Argentina XV definitely wants to add more games. Scorpion is right; the proposal came from the UAR. Araujo said in this interview that they want to play at least 19 matches with the second team:

I wonder are the UAR getting the next batch of Argentinean players ready for there additional Super Rugby team which should be introduced in the 2020 season?

Argentina has the players for a second team. Their problem is the money for the second team...

There seems to be a decent uptick in Tier 1 vs Tier 2 games since the RWC which is great. Does japan have four tier 1 games this year? (Ireland x2, France and Oz)

There is no significant change since the last RWC.

Confirmed T1 vs. T2 tests:
- Japan: Ireland x2, Australia, France
- Fiji: Australia, Italy, Scotland
- Samoa: Wales, Scotland, England
- Tonga: Wales
- Georgia: Argentina
- USA: Ireland
- 3 more tests in November against Wales, Ireland and Italy

So that’s 16 matches in 2017, more than 2016 (10), 2014 (12) and 2012 (10), but only one more than in 2013 (15). The Lions tour just opens more opportunities for this kind of tests.

I’m afraid the figure isn’t going to grow in the coming years. Next week there is one big meeting in San Francisco to negotiate the global calendar from 2020 onwards. All signs indicate that the international schedule will shrink (no out-of-window test, no June tours after the RWC, etc.), so there will be fewer chances to play Tier 2 sides.

Looks like Canada won't be getting any T1 tests this summer. I'm kinda bummed about that, but Georgia & Romania will be much more competitive games...

Scotland and Italy could play each other on June 10, the same day as Crusaders vs Lions. I don't see any other option.

According to Wikipedia, Fiji will play Italy on June 17 and Scotland on June 24. And Wales will play Tonga on June 17 and Samoa on June 24.

What happened with the Pacific Nations Cup?

Its a shame that the Tonga vs Wales game will be moved to NZ, wiki suggests the game will be played at Trafalgar Park in Nelson which I think is highly unlikely considering the lack of ex-pat Tongan community. The game will probably be played at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.

I think there are probably bigger logistical issues in Nuku'alofa than the ground that will hold back Tonga hosting for a while yet.

Nice surprise in laters Spanish Rugby Union calendar. Unless it is a mistake, we should play a game v England Counties ahead of 2017 Nations Cup. It would take place during the first weekend of June:

From what I understand of reading about it, the issue wasn't so much with the ground itself but the state of medical facilities on the island in the event of a serious injury. Very unfortunate, but you can't really blame them under the circumstances.

It looks like Belgium and Portugal are indeed discussing to visit Brazil and Chile. Probably they are waiting to confirm that they will face each other on June.

Would Belgium be playing both Chile and Brazil or would it be a two-test series against one of them?

Don't know, it is not official. Maybe Portugal and Belgium are going to face each other than travel to South America, one facing Brazil first and the other Chile first.

According to Le Rugbynistère, there are discussions ongoing about a game between Georgia and French Barbarians (at the end of the article):

Heard in a radio show that Uruguay would play Georgia in July (not sure if it'll be an A side or the main squad) the weekend after Lelos play Pumas and will have a two-match tour to Namibia in November. Any confirmation? Just a rumor? Thanks

According to GRU, Georgia will play 3 official test matches against Canada, USA and Argentina. There will be additional two games as a Georgia XV against Argentina XV and Uruguay.

It would mean a big change: Namibia being integrated in November test window and Uruguay not playing Romania this year... Hallelujah.
