Re: 2017 Americas Rugby Championship
The Pacaembu Stadium is the municipal stadium of São Paulo, for 35k people, located in downtown and with a very nice Football Museum and Library. It was used in the 1950 Football World Cup and hosted many important football and music events. Its tradicional tenants is Corinthians, the only major football club in the city that did not owned a stadium. However, Corinthians has built its own stadium for the 2014 World Cup and since then Pacaembu has no tenant. Santos FC, the famous Pelé and Neymar club, a club from Santos city (90km from São Paulo city, São Paulo's port area) plays some matches there, as it is the 4th most supported club in São Paulo. But Pacaembu's schedule is open.
The stadium is being used also for Under-20 and Women's football and Rugby has already hosted two matches there, against Germany (more than 10k people in 2015) and Chile (more than 7k people in 2016). Pacaembu is an AWESOME opportunity for rugby.

Good to see Chile upgrading to better facilities this year. Anyone seen what the promotion has been like for this years tournament?

The match officials for each game have been announced and I've edited them into the first post. Interesting that no head official is from Chile and they only get their local ARs. Kurt Weaver, Chris Assmus, Damián Schneider and Joaquín Montes return to their roles from last year while the remaining four get promoted from AR status. Also looking like there will be no TMO in any match which is pretty bogus. They are all being broadcast on television or streaming services so they should have access to a TMO.
Referees
Argentina: Damián Schneider(2), Pablo Deluca(2)
Brazil: Ricardo Sant’Anna(2)
Canada: Chris Assmuss
Uruguay: Joaquín Montes, Claudio Cativelli(2)
USA: Kurt Weaver(3), Derek Summers(2)

Re: 2017 Americas Rugby Championship
I think Chile's problem with stadiums is in Santiago. Because recently they used a modern stadium in Temuco too.

Nah Canada is still the worst with TWO games at Westhills in Langford. I mean I can understand playing Chile there because they are a small opponent that probably isn't a big draw but the game against Argentina XV should have been at Swangard. Not that Swangard is a glamorous venue but there's really only like 4-5 places they could play at in BC. Not surprised they didn't go for BC Place after the lackluster sales from the Japan game last June. Still with their proximity to Washington state I'm kinda disappointed they didn't try and play the USA at BC Place. I mean it would have depended on a large amount of Eagles fans traveling North but could have made for an interesting atmosphere. Maybe they thought they couldn't get the ticket sales to make it worthwhile with Vancouver 7s a couple weeks later? Still the perfect setup IMO would have seen them playing Chile at Westhills, Argentina XV at Swangard and USA at BC Place.
Re: 2017 Americas Rugby Championship
Argentina used small stadiums last year too. They play with their "A" team, so this year they are cleverly using the ARC to play in cities where it wuld be difficult to see the Pumas.
Also Buenos Aires have already the Jaguares,

Was hoping to see more of Brett Johnson for Canada. Carl Pocock is 32 - what's the point there?

These are test matches. Put the best team you can on the field, especially if he is someone you think can help Canada in the RWCQs this summer.

Ya we definitely need to sort out our Fullback depth ahead of the June tests and RWCQs. Matt Evans is now out til the AIs at the earliest and we really have no clear picture behind him in the depth chart. Besides Pocock we have Gradyn Bowd, Rory McDonell and Brock Staller who are also options at Fullback and none of them are really standouts right now.
This roster is also for the three home games, they'll reevaluate and make changes as needed before heading to South America. We might yet still see young bucks like Brett Johnson and Andrew Coe brought in.

Well I mean yes and no. The ARC is never going to be Canada or the US's best teams, let's be honest. That being said Canada should be looking at these matches as a way to get something that can fire together in June against the US, especially at hooker and a second fly half as I think Braid has that shirt locked down for the time being. Hopefully Barton and Trainor click together as I think Hearn could be decent fullback cover for us and he's probably a touch too old to play in 2019. Paris needs to earn his shirt this time out I think after a disappointing November, same with Rumball.

TSNGo is their streaming channel available on their website or on your phone or tablet through the TSN app. But you need to have an account with a TSN recognized cable company to be able to sign in and watch. Also the Chile game is being produced and streamed by Rugby Canada according to ARN. So yes, our games will unfortunately not be available on television here, limiting our exposure in our own country. At least they are airing it in some capacity.

It's Canada in the winter; it's going to feature traditional winter sports. Even though I'd rather watch just about anything other than Curling it does have an audience.
Re: 2017 Americas Rugby Championship
Curling gets huge viewership numbers in Canada. Here's an article from 2015 that shows the top sportscasts on TV that weekend. Curling has six of the top 10 places.

Pretty bummed it's on TSNGo because, unless something's changed recently, they still don't recognize Cogeco.

Nicanor Machuca is an Easter Islander. I think he would become the first to win a senior international cap.

The US poaching Sebastian Kalm is bad news for Chile though.

On February 4, TSN1 and TSN3 will air the All-Star Curling Skins Game.
TSN4 and TSN5 will air a Toronto Raptors game.
TSN2 will air NCAA ice hockey!!!
It's Canada in the winter; it's going to feature traditional winter sports. Even though I'd rather watch just about anything other than Curling it does have an audience.
That NCAA ice hockey game is between Cornell and Union. It's not relevant.
