ARC R5-Championship Match USA-ARG

Postby TheStroBro » Mon, 27 Feb 2017, 19:56

As we all know Argentina XVs have been playing an uncapped side and will against feature the same against the US. Mitchell will now have what is a B+ side and I wonder what our B+ looks like against their B side. In last year's match it was more of an A-side vs. B+ and Argentina forced a draw. Getting a victory shows validation of what Mitchell has been doing, a draw less so, but a big loss leaves the US with a poor taste of what could have been for this tournament. I'm going on record though with Argentina being favored at (-17).

I have to say that regardless of the result on Saturday American fans have reasons to feel optimistic about the Eagles. Skill levels, fitness levels, and game plan execution have been trending up since last year's ARC. I don't doubt that Mitchell's first year has been a learning process for everyone involved including Mitchell himself.

As far as this Saturday goes my hope is that the fitness and skills continue to be evident throughout the whole 80 minutes. The Argentina XV will definitely be the best test of the ARC. I think that if the Eagles keep the fitness and skill levels they've shown in the first four matches that we will have at the least a quality match to watch. Win or lose, if they I feel good about the future going into June.

( I have always been a bit of an optimist though...)

Love TIAR for their interviews and news aggregation, but unless it's Derek Sagehorn analyzing the game, TIAR's analysis is pretty cringeworthy.

This one kicks off at 13:40 MST, which is 17:40 in Argentina. That should equate to 20:40 UTC/GMT. Looks like the other ones are:

Friday: Brazil vs Canada 14:15 MST/21:15 UTC.
Saturday: Chile vs Uruguay 12:00 MST/19:00 UTC

Interesting selections for the US with three Flyhalf in Maggie, Eloff and Cima all in the lineup. Could see a tactical shift? I've always thought playing a field positional game would be more effective for them. Something echoing the South African style.

If they intend to kick much, they haven´t done much research on the pitch, as it´s quite a windy city and the Stadium is not a closed one...

Goes both ways in that case. On the thisisamericanrugby write up they mentioned how Teo'o is a weak kicker, from what I've seen his positioning is weak too.

I don´t think this Argentina side intends to kick... Judging by the names they have a nice backline to run a fast ball. Haven´t seen Ascarate play 15 much, he´s more of a Centre, so perhaps that is also part of a game plan there...

Cam Dolan's face says it all there. He played with serious intent.
