I didn't watch the game, but not shocking in the least to me. This is not a good team. Team Canada is lacking in almost all areas: athleticism, skill, decision making. You name it.

If it was a momento of a great trip with my girl friend I'd be burning my jersey right now.

You are correct, they've reached that twice.

Parabéns!

Obrigado!!!!!

I believe Brazil will be 30th if Portugal beats the Netherlands.

You are correct, they've reached that twice.

In 2008 Brazil was the 28th. When we were 27th?

Before anyone asks: attendance was 4k people. It was raining again in SP...

Congratulations to Brazil but just how far can Canada fall? Surely there needs to be a major shake-up and a complete re-think of rugby XV in Canada. There is no excuse for such a poor run of performances

Congrats to Brasil, Canada definitely needs to sort out its domestic structures asap so these players that are coming in have experience at a higher level, I also think its time to scrap the US vs Canada home and away play-offs as the qualification path too and involve the other ARC teams for the America's 1 spot.

Hopefully the highlights aren't geoblocked on this page

I've been pretty adamant about South America having direct qualification to RWC, but after this year I'm starting to think now a combined Americas qualifying system is the way to go. Minus Argentina the two highest ranked ARC teams qualify as Americas 1 and 2. The third highest ranked team would play a two-leg series against the winner of the ARC 2nd Division for a place in the Repechage qualifying tournament. If that happened this year US and Uruguay would qualify for RWC, and Brazil would qualify for the playoff. Canada would have missed out entirely.

Wow. Congrats to Brazil.
Every single result like this is a sign how healthy international rugby has become and how much we need a 24-team-world-cup!
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

They aren't, thank you

Several nice tries, but also many tender tackles it seems to me

Kudos Brazil. I actually feel very sad for Canada.

This is a very slippery slope for them. Anyway, all the best to all the teams fighting for the ARC trophy.

Wonderfully taken try at the end! Congrats, Brasil! I was impressed with the quality of passing and a lot of players seemed light enough on their feet to slip the first tackle or at least take contact on their terms.

Canada gave them the ball back a few times in the build-up.

What was Mack complaining to the ref about after the try? It all looked good to me. On the Brasil Rugby feed you can see the ref is having a stern word with him, saying 'no' to something. (Maybe the ref cutting through the defensive line cut him off? ... but it had no impact, imo.)

Phil Mack is a fantastic player to watch in 7s, problem is XVs is a whole new ball game. Most of the 7s players in Kenya are ommitted from the XVs squad, because they really struggle after switching codes. I think, players should just concentrate on one code without switching.

You were right. 2009 we achieved the 27th, now I found.

Last time in Top 30 for Brazil was 2011.

Last match the stadium sound played the "Tupi Song", a song in tribute to the team.

We (Portal do Rugby) discovered it was Tupis' prop Jonatas Paulo that composed it! We invited him to Portal do Rugby's podcast weekly program Mesa Oval ("The Oval Table") and we recorded him singing the Tupi Song! Here you are a Facebook video we did while he was playing the guitar and singing: https://www.facebook.com/blogdorugby/vi ... 186170464/
