Simple. Too happy to notice. Big fuck up on RE's part.

Apparently they didn't cause they were standing right there. Rules are rules. Romania won it.

even if RE handed the prize to the right team, its still bad, cause it means they hide somewhere actual rules from public access

I dont know man it sounds verry verry unrealistic that 5500+ Romanians plus Rugby europe offcials didnt notice. What are the odds?

They noticed, they just didn't know the rules. Apparently only person who really knows of the rules of Rugby Europe is Zaal Gigineishvili a.k.a FLIDTA RISXVA. Thanks to him the Trophy has been handed over to Romania.

End of Story.

It is really funny. But it is also really sad. How will tier1 nations ever take us serious if our president doesn't even know who won a championship. Especially when the rule is so simple and logic like this one.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

OMG. :D This is fucked up. :D

Looks like they want someone with brains to count points. :D I can do better than all of them combined.
You should listen to Georgian journalists LOLing on Rugby Europe. :D

Finally ROmania won a Title and such a freak accident happens. :D Such a shame. Everyone will be trolling this championship in press.

Actavian Morariu must resign! This is not acceptable!!!

Very good!

Anyone for a sweepstake on how long it will take them to correct the Ranking Table on the Rugby Europe webpage?

Georgia would have been a worthy winner, given that Lelos treated the competition seriously and (really) played every game to win. The Oaks got away with that awful second half in Offenbach, which I had the honour the witness personally. The silver lining, for me personally is: as RL put it, Germany managed to beat _the champions_. At least my son is delighted about that.

Obviously, none in the Romanian camp bothered to read the manual - ere the game everyone was talking about "having to prevent Georgian bonus point in order to win the title". Probably also because Six Nations doesn't have - at last not as the primary criterion - the "direct confrontation" rule, which honestly, it's a bit unfair in a simple round robin, as one of the teams has the home turf advantage. It works on a home-and-away basis, though, so it'd probably fit for RWC Qualification.

I suspect that RE intention was to align with 6N rules, and this change was discussed with all involved teams, but someone failed to update the manual properly, and someone else failed to review it ...

Apart from this mess.

What a REC it was. I am a little bit subjective here, but if the 5th ranked team managed to beat the winner a competition is extremely healthy. Even if both wins were surprises or lucky or whatever.

All in all we are on a good way in Europe!

DEAR ultravioletu

During dark times - exactly in 2000 - first edition of ENC,
ROM arrived to GEO for a decider

GEO phoned FIRA AER and enquired about tie-breaking rules

Paris told GEO that hence ENC is a SIX NATION "B"
the foremost criterion is OVERALL POINTS DIFFERENCE (F-A)

GEO trailed ROM then by exactly 2 comp points
but has THAT difference so inferior that
ROM almost was assured of TITLE
and decider was losing its attraction

But noble ROM then said:

By FIRA tradition, H2H result goes before F-A
That gave the match | occasion new lease of life

ROM indeed won, albeit just by 23-20, and
was crowned CHAMPION

Things have changed since, but
RE still clearly prefers H2H over F-A, TF, TF-TA etc etc

and EVERYONE involved with REC | REIC knows this ...
bar RE new staff - which operates site, twitter, FB ...

So, now WE are squared in HONESTY and mutual RESPECT

LONG LIVE RUGBY :!: & ANTIM CUP

There are a zillion light years between Romanian and german rugby; it's a sign of mental deficiency to ignore that. Goddamn, it's like in our domestic soccer, when a shitty team beats, only due to circumstances, a top team once in a hundred years and never fukin' stops talking about that ONE victory

@FR: oh, did not know that. Nice story!

(This thread, including actually the pre-match friendly brawl, is actually a perfect symbol of what rugby stands for).

Why shouldn't he? He's born in Germany, lived his entire life here, is member of a German club... And, following the German rugby over the years, I too am happy for their achievements of late.

In all honesty I`m not as upset as I thought I was going to be if Georgia lost. Congrats again and enjoy the victory.
