I don't know about hockey, but Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague are the two biggest Czech soccer clubs. In Eastern and Southern Europe and most of Latin America it is common big social clubs with teams in many sports.

Lazio in Italy, Benfica in Portugal, Barcelona in Spain, Dinamo and Steaua Bucharest in Romania, all are important in football and many other sports including rugby. But I guess with different institutions for pro and amateur sports.
