Is this an RWC qualifier or just an ordinary test match?

2019 just a few years too early for Brazil despite their meteoric recent improvement. Sounds like a very credible performance in Uruguay though.

If Uruguay are going to make the RWC I think that they'd need to be winning games like this a little more comfortably.

I think rather than criticising Uruguay's level it shows Brazil's improvement. To be only 7pts down at the end of the game, and playing away, though a disappointing result given they lost, should also give them confidence they are going in the right direction. It's fair to say the development of Brazil has been good for Uruguay. It's made Uruguay get of their bums and pushed them to improve their own set-up. I think it's likely that if Uruguay hadn't made some big changes to their own rugby development that Brazil would be probably beating them by now. Brazil will get there but it takes time and patience and getting close and breaking through the barrier to actually win are two different things, the latter much harder.

Still a bit sad to see Brazil out. There's a good sized Brazilian expat community in Japan so had Brazil qualified they would've probably had a decent amount of support even if most of that community are not usually rugby fans. In the 2006 World Basketball Champs Brazil probably had the best amount of support outside the home team. It would've been really cool to see Brazil play and see the expat community out in force at their games compared to likely supporter numbers from Uruguay.

I'm not really knocking Uruguay, I just think a full strength Canada would defeat Brazil more heavily, like the US did in the Americas Championship. I am glad to see Uruguay and now possibly Chile putting in decent showings against Brazil rather than simply being overtaken by them.

Like you say I get the feeling that Brazil's rise is removing any complacency in those other countries and giving them fresh motivation.

I think Uruguay's true strength will be tested in the nations cup. Right now it's too early to tell.

What about Uruguay vs. Canada in WC Americas qualification. Don't you think that Uruguay has a chance in that game.

A full strength Canada scored three tries in Ireland in November. I might be putting too much faith in that result but I think they are a level above Uruguay when both sides can pick their best sides. I also think Canada can beat the USA in a two legged playoff.

I'm more confident in the future of Uruguayan rugby than Canadian rugby because the Uruguayan union is held up as an example about how to improve your rugby (and the Canadian union seems to blunder along). But at this moment in time i put Canada ahead of them despite results in the Americas Rugbh Championship. But Uruguay held the US close in the US earlier this year, so I'd be a fool to completely rule them out.

I have just re watched the game. Victor I am impressed with Brazil they are coming in leaps and bounds. Not familiar with Brazilian Rugby but some of your players look good.
