Does anyone know if they are back to the usual points system of 2s 3s and 5s or still on the experimental one of last season of all even numbers?

I don't think I will attend the Italy Emergenti match. But I will try to attend the Spain match.

Why did Romania pull out? Or had they outgrown the tournament and needed stronger opposition?

In last 5 years we won the tournament 4 times, without most of players from France, especially best ones so I guess it was time to move over.

Yes, they will use the usual points system.
The seven experimental rules in test are the same of the WR U20 Championship and the next U20 Trophy (sorry, I don't know if the translation is well done):
http://uar.com.ar/2017/06/02/reglas-pru ... tions-cup/

- There will be no sign of the referee before entering the ball into the scrum.

- The scrum half must introduce the ball straight but can align his left shoulder with the center of the tunnel.

- The eighth is allowed to take the ball from the feet of the second line.

- It is mandatory that the hooker goes for the ball once it was introduced in the scrum.

- Only tackle and creation of the offside line (tackler, tackled and at least one player standing and on the ball generates the offside line).

- A player can not kick the ball out of a ruck - he can only push it back.

- The tackler must stand to play the ball and can only play it from his side of the tackle gate.

Because they mandhandled everyone in the tournament including Argentina XV.

Honestly, Romania and Georgia aren't far off Italy in terms of quality and if they played in the Six Nations, they would win the occasional game, especially at home.

I would even say that if they had the money and opportunities that Italy have had, they would probably surpass them.

Wonderful translation from Espagnol to English :!: Appreciated :!:

It came as a 11-hour surprise by our darlings from Dublin

They published exactly those 7 innovations on the eve of U20 Worlds
at 17:00 GMT on 30/05/2017

Check SOURCE http://www.worldrugby.org/u20/news/252142?lang=en

And I had to phone GEO coaching staff in hurry next morning

They did NOT panic, though -- already had invited Alain Rolland and got instructed by him

If I remember corectly, Argentina XV and Italy A participated to every edition except 2015 when we got Emerging Ireland, probably because we were to play Ireland in RWC groups and they had to test us to avoid surprises, otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't have sent an Irish team, it was the only time when we also lost the tournament in past 5 years.

I still think Georgia and Romania don't have the depth of Italy and won't happen until a number of let's say 50-60 players (in all positions) will get regular exposure in competition of at least Pro D2 level.

I think Italy is anytime better and we're miles away in infrastructure, coaching, physio etc. At this moment, both development systems of Georgia and Romania, very different, are still very fragile and without higher exposure both nations will likely stagnate. Italy just need better organisation to avoid being wooden spoon every year in 6N.

Back to Nations Cup , it was a good development competition and not only for us, if you look to Jaguares' side or Italian franchises you'll notice players who featured in one or two tournament; heck, you can notice them by only looking at scorers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Rugby_Nations_Cup

I think it's very good for Uruguay to host such competition.

As a joke, win Nations Cup, win REC than you get Brazil from WR as a reward ;)

Who is paying Romania's trip to Japan and Canada? WR or FRR? It is a question, I don't know.

FRR is paying. And if I remember well they covered some costs of Nations Cup too when it was organised here

If it is FRR paying Brazil was not imposed. Probably you run out of possibilities. But let's remember the June is a month that European should travel, not receive matches. You receive matches in November. That's is probably why Romania accepted to play Brazil, but refuse to pay for another travel costs.

I highly doubt one more trip to Brazil from Canada would have been an issue.

It is not about playing Brazil, it is about not playing T1 countries outside WC for 11 years. Brazil test it is ok, it is normal to give a chance to other countries to play Romania. Unfortunately T1 don't think the same about us. But i think is also our union failure. They SHOULD do better than this until now.
Anyway Nations cup it is a good competition.

Yep, sad that Romania doesn't have de proper opportunities against T1s. It sould be a chain - T1 vs T2, T2 vs T3 and Upper-T3 vs other T3s.
