Victor, have you heard anything on a XV women's national team? Is it even been discussed in CBRu?

Hey Indech, great to see you here in the forum!

I know Sudamérica Rugby want to kickoff Women's XVs, but there is nothing official about it. At the momment there isn't a single Women's XVs competition in Brazil. Last year we had the first official São Paulo Women's XVs Championship, the first official Women's XVs competition in Brazil, but we don't have the dates for the 2017 edition yet.

Super 8 - 3rd round
Pasteur 26-24 Curitiba
São José 25-25 Poli
Jacareí 42-25 Desterro
SPAC - Farrapos - postponed to July 29th

Nothing.

BTW, Super 8 and Taça Tupi's this weekend rounds were postponed. Reason: the Ministery of Sports hasn't signed yet the Brazilian Rugby Union's project to pay those tournaments' travel costs (the travel costs are payed by the Brazilian Rugby Union using Ministry approved projects that allow companies to put a % of their taxes money on sports). Without this subside those national competitions wouldn't be possible in their current formats as clubs don't have money to travel big distances.

Let's wait for the Ministry...

Why isn't Bahia associated? Why aren't the other states moving towards setting up their structure, like MS, MT, GO, AM?

CBRu has a long list of requirements to accept a new federation. The only one that has almost everything is Bahia.

They just don't have the number of level 2 referees, but they have an application to become the 7th associated. The others are far away. You can see these requirements in the statute:https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1219/8728/files/Estatuto_Registrado.pdf?11614917007487368548 Let's wait.

However, not all of the current 6 federation fulfill all the requirements. The current 6 are the founding federations of CBRu. We are still to see non-founding state being accepted. Which, of course, creates questions.

About others' works, Mato Grosso do Sul is struggling to have all clubs together focused on the federation they formed. Goiás, the so called Cerrado Federation (with Distrito Federal and Tocantins) is the best organized after Bahia, and they look to be the next after Bahia. Ceará and Mato Grosso are in the begining of their work. Amazonas doesn't have a proper federation, they have just Liga Norte, that is not the kind of organization CBRu accepts as member. While Piauí is just now focused on its own organization as they were leading the failed All-Nordeste federation. Pernambuco's attempt of a federation died. And that is it.

Victorsa,

How are the proposed academy set ups coming along and the corresponding competition that they'll play in?

Also, do you think that if finances were ever available that some kind of inter-provincial competition could be established akin to the Currie Cup in SA or NPC in NZ? From the list of federated regions above there appears to be a reasonable spine for such a competition.

No news about it. CBRu said soon they will release more info. They started a couple of training inter-academy matches. I think a serious competition os something for next year.

There are a couple of problems:

- The academies are NOT related to the state federations, they are fully owned by Cbru
- State federations are far away from having structure to field their own teams. They are amateur and just São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul have mature club competitions. The others struggle even to release calendar and organize decent club tournaments
- No culture or background in Brazil for state representative teams. São Paulo has 5 of the 8 best clubs in Brazil and they have big rivalries, while states like Paraná and Santa Catarina have one club much bigger than the rest...
