Jacareí is the Brazilian men's national champions! First title ever in a major top division national competition for Jacarei.

Results: http://www.portaldorugby.com.br/noticia ... per-sevens

But CBRu mess up with the tournament, blocking some key national team players to take part in a competition they were organizing and have chosen the dates... that explains São José's bad results, as they missed the Duque and Sancery brothers... many complains about all this from the clubs and they are right.

Liga Norte, the Northern (Amazon) League, confirmed. Just 3 clubs this year: GRUA (from Manaus, Amazonas state), Makuxi (from Boa Vista, Roraima... land of Salles :P ) and Porto Velho (from Porto Velho, Rondônia). Clubs from Acre and Pará states opted to focus on sevens this year, as the competition is REALLY costly. Each player spends at least 1k dollars in air travels to play it...

Matches from May to October.

Look at the map (the green area):

This is a story that must be told. HURRA! is a non-gov organization in São Paulo that works with rugby in São Paulo's municipal schools in poor areas. They teach TAG Ruggby, but started with full-contact rugby too in a couple of schools. It is huge, with some thousands kids involved

Now they are in "Fundação CASA"! CASA is São Paulo's a youth offenders institution, aka a prison for people under age. 50 teenagers started their rugby classes yesterday. Really nice.

Glad to see the masses being exposed to the sport. Not a bad idea with young offenders too. Hopefully a few kids will realise channelling their energies into sport might be a better option than ending up on the wrong end of the next prison riot five years down the line.

The new Tupis' and Yaras' kit:

Image

The launch was at the Novotel, as Accor Hotels is the new Brazilian Rugby Union (CBRu) sponsor.

Also Bradesco bank renew its sponsorship contract with CBRu. They are already 10 years in Brazilian rugby.

Kenya travelled to Brazil last year and beat the Tupis 18 - 17 in Sao Paulo. Are there any plans of Brazil coming to Kenya for the return leg?

It wasn't in São Paulo that match. It was in Macapá, thousands of km away in Brazilian Amazon region, up north.

I would love to see Brazil visiting Kenya, but I don't heard anything about it. But Brazil played the Safari Sevens once, in 2015.

About Bradesco's sponsorship, it is now up to 2020. But CBRu hasn't made public the values yet.
