maybe Samoa will manage to win both matches and get Oceania 1 spot. Fiji is hell of a team and dangerous to all other national teams in Pool D.

I cheer for Samoa. :D

In case of a samoan victory we will have (if I'm not wrong) the first WC qualified teams. It's strange that, apparently, no one tv/web transmission is on sight

I believe this is the first home match for Tonga in almost a decade. Does anyone has the proper data? When was the last time they played in Nukualofa?

Btw, I believe the stadium was just renovated for the Pacific Games, right?

These look like strong squads considering it outside the June window. Being a WCQ has some pulling power rights over European clubs?

This should be a cracker of a tournament from the Pacific Islanders. The buffy Samoans vs the crafty fijian offloads plus the suprise full Tongans.

Only question is why isn't there a broadcaster? This is actually a business opportunity. I hope Kwese sports, Supersport and Sky 1 are seeing this.

My money is on those crafty Fijians. Their offloads are out of this world. Even if you would pick their brains one by one, you could never estimate where the

next offload is coming from. Very unpredictable chaps there .

At the same time, 'Ikale Tahi captain Piutau said their preparation this week has been awesome because they have been training hard, and had a week together to prepare.

"There was a lot more time to get things organized and get our systems in place. We are going into this game pretty confident of the work that we have done."

Piutau was also happy they are playing in Tonga after nine-years since there is a lot of excitement and for a lot of the players it comes with the pressure of being at home.

"Hopefully we can turn that around and use that to our advantage tomorrow.”

He said it’s their first time to play in Tonga for a lot of them.

"It’s one of those things that you put down as part of your career goal to obviously play a test here at home. For a lot of us we are going to be able to tick that box," he said.

Wasn't expecting this result TBH!

Tonga 30 - 26 Samoa ( 20 - 16 at HT )

"Whilst this win isn’t enough to lift Tonga from 3rd place in the standings the 'Ikale Tahi are level with Samoa on five points"

I've been talking up Tonga after watching their performances against Spain and Italy in November, so I'm not surprised by this. But they needed a larger points difference than this surely to stand a realistic chance of not finishing bottom for RWC qualification? Looks like it was a cracker of a match.

Tonga had some crafty offloads of their own in this game, looks like Steve Mafi's been watching Nakarawa with those breakout runs of his from the rucks.

Good win for Tonga, they're fans are so fanatic and the Tongans play twice as hard in front of them. Great to see the stadium packed. The Tongan fans can be absolutely crazy. Can't help but wonder if this result would have turned out differently if there was a tmo though. Definitely helped out Fiji with this win too :D Now all we have to do is not screw it up. Tonga have a good 9 - 10 pair with Takulua and Fosita. Those guys have been playing together for years.

I don't understand why Mckee has dropped Matawalu, I can only assume its for some off the field thing. Hopefully Fiji will still field a good team for these games. Fiji will probably have to get a good lead early to keep the home town fans quiet.
