Americas Rugby

Postby victorsra » Fri, 30 Jun 2017, 19:12

Sudamérica Rugby and Rugby Americas North are having a meeting now in San Diego: http://www.sudamericarugby.org/2017/06/ ... cas-north/

The meeting is discussion the rugby in both regions prior to the "Americas Rugby" (the union that organizes the Americas Rugby Championship) meeting in August, in Miami.

In this press release it is said they will discuss new pan-american competitions.

I believe now that the main reason why there isn't a merge between both entities is the fact that they would lose votes in WR's council.

Anyway, interesting to see that the "America Rugby" is becoming an stronger organization, although I never saw simple things like a logo or a website/social media specific for the "Americas Rugby".

We were waiting this.

Americas Rugby Championship ‘B’ Begins in 2018
http://www.americasrugbynews.com/2017/0 ... gins-2018/

The Four Nations competition will have two from each of Sudamérica Rugby and Americas Rugby North.
The new competition, the América Championship B will debut in August 2018. It is to include Colombia, Paraguay, Mexico and possibly Trinidad & Tobago.

Says they will "explore the possibility" of promotion and relegation between the two. So it won't be in place from the start. But I can't see it frightening any of the existing teams at the moment.
