I must admit it was better than I have expected. Probably I had overestimated Heidelberg a bit, but I was sure second half will be very difficult, we were lucky enough to have a consistent advantage after the first 40 mins. In 3 weeks we should have at least Simionescu, Umaga and Doyle back, some more games played in Superliga, it should be better. However, not nearly enough for a possible confrontation with Enisey.

Thanks, Werner. So the rematch is really open. Looking forward to it.

Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

I'm a bit maniac so I wanted to know who the referee in Krasnodar was. From this photo https://scontent-mxp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/ ... e=5B357393
I thought to have identified the woman assistant as Hollie Davidson, so I supposed that all the referees were scottish and now I think to have spotted the name of the main referee: he should be Mike Adamson. I didn't know him and it's nice to learn that he was a Scotland U21 and then Scotland 7s player before turning referee. It's not usual to see former high level players as international referees.
Scottish referees have directed 9 out of 22 Shield matches this season

CANALINA, pls, write to Vincent of EPCR and
ask for a game sheet to be made public

He twice greeted me in Georgian
at my Office in a week prior to GEO - ROM

Unfortunately, I did NOT realize at that time WHO it was ...

Thought - another starter in journalism | osteo'pathy | conditioning

I pass :)
I've already tried once, he answered in a kind way but said me that the Shield was not managed by him and that anyway the development of this tournament was admittedly not a priority for EPCR. He gave me the mails of two other EPCR people but they never answered

Krasny Yar has a good match report. There are not the referees but, ok, it's not basilar

March 31. Krasnodar. Trud Stadium. The Continental Shield. First semifinal. "Yenisei-STM" - "Krasny Yar" - 47:22 (30:10).

"Red Yar": 1. G. Tsnobiladze - 2. V. Tsnobiladze - 3. Fukofuk, 4. Mach - 5. Garbuzov (k.), 6. Sidorov - 7. Arkhip, 8. Prepelitsa, 9. Dorofeyev - 10. Sugrobov, 11. Shepherd - 12. Malaguradze - 13. Pruidze - 14. Luta - 15. Matiashvili.
Substitutions: 16. Kondakov, 17. Novoselov, 18. Tsiklauri, 19. Khudyakov, 20. Gresev, 21. Yagudin, 23. Galynovsky.

Tries: Morozov (15), Giliberti (20), Budychenko (40), Gachechiladze (51), Kushnaryov (80) - Pruidze (33), Latu (43), Matiashvili (70)
Conversions: Kushnaryov (15, 22, 40, 52, 80) - Malaguradze (35, 71);
Penalties: Kushnaryov (7, 28, 38, 67) - Malaguradze (14).

Sad to hear this -- it seems rugby people are turning into soul-less robots

Batumi and Georgia RU man -- my close friend and monitoring the club,
were getting guiding packages before Batumi's every home game from HIM

I have seen them ALL -- they contained FULL ref allocations

And the filled game-sheets were sent directly to HIM by my PUPILS --
whom I have taught that job | business

And HE was in Georgia to study from close | witness from first hand
preparations for a BIG match -- GEO v ROM in this case

MARCO, mate

Just have called Malaghuradze's dad, himself former rugby player and administrator

He at once contacted Lasha via *What's up*

The answer is that the Officials were all Scots and one TJ was a girl

Unfortunately, as usual, players do not know refs' names - esp, unknown ones

Mike Adamson was heavily involved at INT 7s circuit recently
If you google you'll surely get a lot of his images

Yes, thank you. I'm pretty sure the main referee was Adamson and I'm sure the touchline assistant was Hollie Davidson (the blonde woman). I wasn't able to define the other assistant but, ok, it was just for my curiosity.
I'm glad to see all these scottish referees in the Shield. This suggests that at least a bit of Great Britain is interested in this tournament (or maybe they are just using it as training gym for their second belt referees...)

Well, guess what?!? Chester Williams is back to Timisoara! To help Sosene Anesi in the following weeks, both in Continental Shield and in Superliga...
Some problems for Timisoara for the game vs Heidelberg, heavy injury for Luiters last weekend against CSM (caballero Vlad I. hasn't seen it though.... man, I had no idea so many rugby fans in Timisoara were capable to speak "spanish", words were flying like bullets so I take it pequeno Vlad was a bit overwhelmed ), also still no blind-side flanker (actually a hooker used instead).

Superliga seems "tailored" this year for CSM Bucharest :P I hope Chester and the boyz will stick their needles into it very deep!

Although it is fair to say that the XV that played on Saturday is the side that will take on Timisoara, HRK also played a pending fixture with TVPforzheim yesterday (with a 2nd outfit of course)

HRK 13 - 61 TVP (despite being only 13 - 19 at HT)

I´m really looking forward to this game tbh.

Safe to say this is the biggest domestic game in recent German Rugby History.

Is there much interest locally? Might there be a reasonable attendance?

I have nothing against Timisoara (indeed, I think the Challenge Cup needs expansion to contain the champions of Romania, Georgia etc every year) but I would love to see a German team qualify for Europe.

I doubt that there will be more than 500-800 spectators. With the Civil War still not resolved and the HRK being the club nearly all Wild employed players are playing for, they are not exactly popular. Even more and even before that Civil War in Heidelberg.
I honestly think that if the HRK was not located in Heidelberg with such a strong rivalry between 5 clubs for many many years, they would have a way, way bigger attendance.

I wish I could drive over, but I won't make it due to private commitments. Hope there will be a live-stream (there was one for the quarterfinal).

Really? you think there´s that much "hate" towards them? I think attendance won´t be THAT low, say 1000+ (I´d venture to double what you expect), they have also handed out tickets to some or all nearby local clubs -I know mine has received an invite-...

We´ll have to wait and see

Between the Heidelberg clubs? I would say yes, with the exception of Neuenheim, where they apparently send players to do some youth practice to.
I've never heard a good word about the WRA in general from any from the other Heidelberg clubs. This might or is different with other BW or even German-wide clubs.
How many did see the quarter-final? 300? I hope you are right about 1000+, but I doubt it. But who knows, maybe it sparks a united Heidelberg rugby feeling. Wouldn't be the worst thing.
