Kenya Simbas vs Hong Kong Dragons

Postby Neptune » Thu, 17 Aug 2017, 07:14

Date: 20th August 2017
Time 3pm
Venue: RFUEA Grounds Nairobi
Twitter handle: #SimbaNiMoja (Swahili for the Lion is one Pride)
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DHRqOrzXkAA2G0R.jpg

The Simbas and the Dragons have met thrice with the Simbas claiming victory on two occasions.
The first meet was in 2011 in the Emirates cup where the Dragons emerged victorious 44 -17, while the Simbas avenged this defeat twice beating the Dragons in a two test match series 24-18 and 34-10 in Nairobi.
Sunday's game comes at a time when the Simbas are ranked at position 25, one slot below the dragons, and the pack of lions will be eager to claw all those needed ranking points.
A return leg will then be set in November in the far east, where the Simbas will meet the hosts alongside the Russian bears and the Chileans.

Tu les trouves où ces stats de caps stp?

(Replay in english to avoid use of google translator or the help of a "Quebecois" :D for the non-francophone followers of the forum)

I have counted them myself from all the sheets of match recovered over the years.

From the list of Hong Kong players, it looks like if most of the players are expatriates, and have just checked in to play some footy. Interesting indeed. 8-)

None of them can speak a word of Chinese either. It's a joke to be honest. At least the foreigners/expats for Japan are expected to learn Japanese

Where did you find the stats for the caps?
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

I think you mean none of them can speak Mandarin. There is no language like Chinese.

They can't speak cantonese or mandarin. Either one would do

I agree, it's like staying in Kenya, and you cannot speak the local langauge Swahili. It is always good to embrace the traditional culture and practices of the specific area that you go to. If I go to Italy, first order of business will be to learn Italian. The expats need to learn mandarin or at least make an effort.
But, anyway, let me not be judgemental. There could be other dynamics that I may not be party to.

Just as I pointed out, passport holder issues draining team strength for the Hong Kong expats.

Another positive case study of raising the residency length to 5 years. If Hong Kong get the majority of players from residency qualification then 5 years is too long to qualify through attending University.

So the Hong Kong union must engage with actual human beings from Hong Kong and develop them, or their national team will completely die over the next ten years. And rightly so.

So many things went wrong. We were trailing 14-0 in the first 17 mins only to finish the half at 12 -14. We also had a record 6 debutants whom I'm sure had tense nerves playing top flight rugby. But Saturday, we will redeem ourselves.

On 26th we'll know the true strength of both sides. Yesterday's test was all about testing young/new players.

From the look of things, Hong Kong did their homework pretty well. They tried denying us the ball at all costs plus they were also keeping it up tight bcoz they knew if we started running it, they would be in trouble.

Another crucial thing I noted, is that we never take the 3 points when it matters. On 2 occasions, we opted for the line out instead of the 3 points which could have given us the victory.
