So Piffero and Carpenter are back in the fold, while Ardron returned to club rugby. Parfrey at FH is just so shockingly out of place in even this mediocre Canadian team. This could be a close game, I expect Spain to win narrowly at home though.

Spanish team according to World Rugby:
1. Beñat Auzqui
2. Marco Pinto
3. Jesús Moreno
4. Lucas Guillaume
5. David Barrera-Howarth
6. Pierre Barthere
7. Gautier Gibouin (c)
8. Fred Quercy
9. Guillaume Rouet
10. Mathieu Bélie
11. Sébastien Ascarat
12. Dan Snee
13. Fabien Perrin
14. Ignacio Contardi
15. Brad Linklater

16. Fernando López
17. Juan Anaya
18. Jonathan García
19. Kalo Kalo Gavidi
20. Thibaut Visensang
21. Sébastien Rouet
22. Thibaut Álvarez
23. Joan Losada

It's a surprise to me to see Losada in the squad, even if in the bench. Most inexperienced guys (Blanco, Mateu, Gimeno) seem to be reserved for the game against Brazil.

Nava i guess is injured? Civil is also injured? I think is one of your best props and i know that Carcasonne has one week off.
At least Brad Linklater is on the field, my fav player from your squad :). I am surprised that he is not playing on a higher club level.

Spain is clearly favourite. Better front row. Equal second row. Far better back row. Better half backs. Equal back line. Better bench.

Taylor Paris,Ciaran Hearn or DTH van der Merwe are all class. DTH is probably the best T2 back. How is that you rate Spain backs so much over this guys?!

Our chances depend on how much can we bully their forwards. Their backs will catch us by surprise a few times, but in the long run forwards will give or deny us a shot.

Nava is injured, he had to be receive surgery in one of his legs. He could play against Brazil but seems prone to reserve himself for REC. And in a recent interview he even said he would accept to personally miss RWC (he's 35) if that means Spain reaches It.

Civil has missed last ProD2 games so I assume he's injured. Anyway we were counting on Jean-Baptiste Custoja and Santos prefered not to call him in the end either because he's just coming out of injury.

If I'm not mistaken Linklater is engaged/married to a Spaniard and already tried his luck in Italy a few years back. He's always received some criticism from the defensive POV.

Unfortunately we are less than the sum of our parts as our 10 is horrible, our 9 has a fairly poor pass and the forwards don't give much of a platform for DTH/Hearn/Paris to work with. Also Coe/Staller are extremely raw for this level of rugby.

I honestly don't know the Spanish backs that well, but if you have a good 9/10 that's half the battle. The rest can't function without that in place.

The pack, #9, #10, #11 and #15 are dangerous but the whole back set often lacks creativity. Then #19 could do harm in the second-half.

The main issue with out front row is that they are prone to brawls. Last REC was quite shameful, only better than Belgium, who often look more like a WWE team than a rugby one.

When Canada will realize Spain is better, brawl could erupt, that's true.

I wait so much from Quercy and the entire back row. They can settle the game with Rouet and Belie.

Central stadium ready for the game. It hasn't looked this good since the 1940s...

Disappointing crowd. Let's see if it improves since people is used to 16:00 kick-off time, but... Sad.

It does look like a few people are still filtering in but it won't be a big crowd.

That was the longest pre kick prep I've ever seen for a 10 metre penalty in front of the posts.

Incredible effort, Canada missing all sorts of oppourtunities now, failing to put the ball down, missing kickable penalties.

Dumb mistake and we're 17-17 at half-time.

What astonishes me it's the fact it's a mistake we did against England Counties in June... when there was a totally different squad for Spain.

Decent half of rugby, both sides put in some good passages of attack, though there have been some brain fart moments.
