Holy shit. Guillaume injured, Rouet yellow-carded... And that's only three minutes in. And there comes Canada try. 17-24.

Canada are rampant, another Paris try, Spain's SH in the bin and we're in the lead!

Referees deny Canada another try for side entry...

That would have been game over, Spain hanging on for dear life right now and just got a life preserver thrown to them.

Now Spain are in! Try off a maul, this game getting wilder by the moment.

That conversion must have missed by inches. The crowd were actually cheering as it looked through.

Visibility at this time is more than shitty.

Canada with a penalty, 34-22. Rouet's yellow card sin bin has ended though.

New kick in for Canada after Spain lost a golden opportunity, 22-37.

Spain really could have gotten back into the game there, that sort of traded with the penalty we had earlier for in from the side. Spain is quite good in attack, putting in some nice phases.

Another off feet penalty ruins a solid Spanish attacking set.

Spain should have taken a penalty there, it was a three score game.

Spain with a very late maul try, too little too late, not enough time for two more scores, though I think losing by less than 15 saves some ranking points, so it's something. 37-27 with less than a minute left.

37-27 final, fun game, not champagne rugby but some good tries, and hard work from both sides. As a Canada fan I'm relieved, a win was badly overdue and we can take some positives home from the tour.

Only caught the second half and Canada looked quite a bit superior. They must have a chance against Uruguay on that showing. Spain have had a really disappointing 2017 for me, they have not progressed like I expected given their good performance against Tonga this time last year.

But hey, our backs are fucking awesome and we're going to raze our way to RWC.

The truth is we're slightly the same as a year ago. We've got more or less the same performances in REC and November test matches thanks to squad stability, but there's little more to scratch.

I watched the match purely to see how we compared to Spain. A couple things:

1. Canada is good in open play and has some skilled ball carriers that are able to score opportunistic tries but we already knew that.
2. Spanish forwards were superior to ours and bossed us around in the finer aspects of forward play.
3. The Yellow Card saved us, otherwise, From my perspective we were on the back foot most of the game.

The only thing I learned from this game is that we are on par with the Lower End of the REC in terms of quality. Georgia is light years ahead of us and Romania is clearly a cut above as well. The worrying bit for me is that these teams (Spain, Germany, Belgium, Russia) are improving whereas we are not. Clearly Tier 3 now.

Horrible 20 minutes from Spain killed them. Knowing how deep Canada fell, it's a miserable performance from Spanish backs.

Who would have guessed Canada to beat Spain on their home turf? Especially with Canada's string of losses. Quite a surprise there

Crap, I thought this game was later for some reason, so it was done hours before I thought of it...

Well, we won finally! It'll be a good morale booster, especially since Spain is above us in the rankings. We'll probably jump up a spot or two, eh? Looking forward to watching a replay.
