2018 June Internationals
2018 June Internationals
Fixtures for the top5 european nations, and the 4 Nations teams are already confirmed :
England : tour to South Africa (9, 16 and 23 June)
France : tour to New Zealand (9, 16 and 23 June)
Ireland : tour to Australia (9, 16 and 23 June)
Scotland : tour to Americas : USA, Canada, Argentina (23 June?)
Wales : tour to Argentina (9 and 16 June)
Any confirmed fixtures for Tier2 nations?
We know that Georgia will face Japan, and 2 teams from Fiji Samoa and Tonga.
Japan will host Georgia and is supposed to host Italy (1 time or 2 times?)
Canada and USA will both host Scotland and looks to have 2 free fixtures to host Tier2 nations
Same for Pacific teams (maybe 1 or 2 of these teams will host Italy?)
Any news about Romania?

Re: 2018 June Internationals
Italy should play twice in Japan, so I read
Basing on what you write the third fixture for the azzurri should be Samoa or Tonga; they've already played two times with Fiji this year

Some details included are available in This thread about some games in 2018, including USA playing Germany in a reciprocal deal.

Re: 2018 June Internationals
Apparently Germany was planned to play both Canada and the USA away, but the plan was cancelled because of our Union vs. Sponsor brawl.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Samoa has to play the Europe /Oceania play-off in June. The last Argentina game is against Scotland
Re: 2018 June Internationals
only rumors so far, Romania will meet two teams from Pacific Islands and one Australian side (probably select) side, not sure if one of the SR franchises.

Exactly, I imagine that for Samoa and REC sides bar Georgia everything should depend on the outcome of RWC qualifiers, since the play-off is scheduled for June. They may have initial plans but nothing can be confirmed before we know who Europe 1 and Europe 2 will be. I can even imagine a scenario where Nations Cup reserves a spot for the losing side of the European play-off versus Portugal.

This sucks, can't remember the last time Canada played Germany, if ever. I would have liked to have seen this contest.
Re: 2018 June Internationals
Side question: do you know the dates of the JRWC 2018?
I've read that it will be in Rosario, Argentina, and that it has been moved forward to august-september, but I don't know the exact dates

Re: 2018 June Internationals
Is there news about the date of the playoff play 2 team against Portugal? Wikipedia is on May 12, but on May 12, the final of the Continental Shield.

Rugby Europe PDF says April/May 2018, but Spanish Rugby Unions says May 13. I imagine host nation can adapt it and that weekend is the last one available (the folllowing one Portugal may have the REC promotion play-off and then it's too tight for the play-off against Samoa).

Enisei or Krasny Yar will play in Bilbao on May 12. If Russia takes the 2nd place, the players of the Russian national team (from Enisei or Krasny Yar) will not be able to physically play two games at the same time.

According to http://www.rugbyinternational.net/ there has been a match between a Canada under 23 and Germany in 2002. Canada won 20 - 14. But no guarantee.
Re: 2018 June Internationals
The U.R.U. president confirmed that Uruguay will host the Nations Cup again next year. They also want to play an additional test in June against a Tier 2 side.
In the case of Uruguay XV, the Americas Pacific Challenge comes back in 2018. They are trying to boost up the schedule for their second squad. He talked about participating in a tournament in Hong Kong. No idea which tournament. I don’t think it’s the “Cup of Nations”.

Confirmed the two tests between Japan and Italy. The azzurri should have a first test on june 2nd, but still no clues about the opponent (maybe Tonga?)

I can see Japan winning all three without too much difficulty. I think it was important to get them exposure against a top 9 side in this test window to help prepare them for the RWC.
A two test defeat for Italy there could be the end of the road for O'Shea.

I don't think O'Shea is at risk. Has Italy any other option before 2019?

Re: 2018 June Internationals
I don't think too O'Shea is at risk; he was contracted with a RWC'19 mission, I think they will not fire him because of some losses
in the path.
An attempt of june Pacific fixtures; the only confirmed matches are those in bold (Fiji's opponents are confirmed by the article above, but it doesn't specify the order of the matches). According to the not-so-clear communicate by Italian Federation, Italy will play the first of its three tests on june 2nd
