Re: U20 Championship 2018
Portugal 8-3 up at half-time, they seem a bit fresher and it looks like a repeat of last year's final with less talent on the pitch.

I guess your assessment is spot on again.Armchair Fan wrote:FT 30-0. Spain reaches the final without conceding a point but pays a heavy toll in injuries. I hope Netherlands can put on a show against Portugal because otherwise I don't know how we're gonna be able to cope against Portugal at home...
Otherwise I can't explain this very inconsistent set of results.
Spain aparrently not a shadow of the team that started the semi-final.
Well congratulations to Portugal nonetheless.

Re: U20 Championship 2018
Well, I don't think it's the only reason, that would be diminishing the value of back-to-back champions. Portugal is a well-oiled and well-coached team playing at home. I'm not too disappointed since I knew we weren't heavy favourites, at least not like last year. We lost then, we lost earlier this year and we lost today.
That said, it's obvious there are things Spain must improve in the short run. When two years in a row you play great quarters and semis but look worn-out in the D day, there's a mismanagement. And planning hasn't been good enough. Compared to last year, there was one less training camp. Compared to Portugal, we played three less training games. You can't bet everything on a stellar generation like 2015-2016's one, especially when the assessment is newer ones have less talent (although maybe more flight hours).
I wish Portugal the best, but at the same time I've got a small fear that they could win the Trophy and leave us with a way poorer U20 European Championship next season.

Well, is youth rugby. Anything is possible. Last year was almost the same, Spain dominate the tournament but lost to Portugal (it was much closer last year though).
Congrats to both teams, looks head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in competition!
Re: U20 Championship 2018
Congrets to Portugal. They deserved the championship title.
However (I already posted and should repeat it again) I more than sure that with scrum like this it is impossible to win the Trophy (unfortunately).
