Congratulations!!! The best team won. Good experience for the lads overall. It felt like a test match.

Fun match to watch with good intensity if not a little shaky at times. Happy to see a credible scrum with Titi Joe, and waldren.

Having a real bench also makes a big difference. Landry and Durutalo where huge energy boosts for the final 20 min.

But Uruguay's progress is also hard to ignore. They're unlikely to retain their European-based players for the tournament, but they have relatively few compared to the US and Canada so they will be one of the favorites IMO.

Exactly. Argentina XV is stronger than us. Anyway, we play home this time.

A win for the Eagles. I'm pleased to see the US get the win and with a few exceptions the team looked good for a first round match against the best team in the ARC. Taking into consideration the fact that this was a first round game, and that the team has not played together in months I'm pleased with the performance and the win.
The pack looked solid at line out, even winning a few balls on Argentine throws. The scrum was also good, I didn't see the Eagles getting pushed off the ball, in fact I felt that they were getting solid push and forward movement in the scrum. Our props were able to keep their feet and not collapse the scrum under pressure. Rucks and mauls showed the Eagles can keep possession and get good go forward ball. As usual the yellow cards and full penalties for undisciplined play are a problem. With the big rivalry game next, I'd hope the Eagles start the same 8 against Canada.

Scrum half- Nate or Shawn...Ok, Nate was not able to exploit his creative game break play in this match. His speed and disruptiveness were kept in check and I felt that he was slower to the breakdown and his passing was not as crisp as it should have been. Shaun did get faster ball to the backs and his passing was better than Nate. I still think Nate is the future and has more upside, but in this game...Shaun played better.

The backs were less than remarkable. I'd like to see some serious reorganization of these guys for the Canadian match.

I was at the Eagles opening ARC match last year, vs Uruguay in San Antonio, and was disappointed at the time by the sloppy play in the 1st half. This year's opening match looked MUCH better so I'm looking forward to the other four. Clearly it could have gone either way (or drawn yet again), but as noted by others the Eagles held their own in the scrum throughout, had amazing rolling mauls at the end of the match, were fun to watch in attack and solid in defense. With MLR set to give a lot of these guys a higher level of regular competition, I hope to see the Eagles continue the upward trend.

Augsperger deserves credit last night for his defensive plays and pace around the pitch. His athleticism can’t really be topped in that sense. But yes his ball delivery and box kicking make you wonder if he should be there.

And my only fear is that our attacking shape was not nearly as dynamic as previous years. We won on good defense. I just don’t want to revert back to tolkin era form where our only tries come from line outs insides the 22 and crash balls to our forwards

I think the Brache injury and the early forced insertion of Audsley kinda messed up the backline's flow to a degree. In watching from the stands it definitely seemed like it took a while for the link to Audsley to be established. The first few times it went out to him the connection didn't seem to get made well at all. It definitely seemed better in the second half to me.

I'll have my article up tonight, I didn't get a final number, but over 6300 sold as of 9AM yesterday. The majority of them in the South Stand.

Just seen the highlights. Potentially an inch away from a third consecutive draw between these two at the death!
