Also, Barkwill. For goodness sake just get the guy out of the centre position in the backline in multiple phase attack! Honestly talk about deja vu after seeing the same thing v Uruguay in Vancouver last year.

It's time for Barkwill to be dropped. He's been a good servant but he's old, slow and not the Future.....

It such a shame that Eagles matches are not on more mainstream channels

They could have called it "Bering strait Trophy". Usa largely defeated Russia and Russia largely won in Canada, tonight the final match between Canada and Usa

DSD runs way too high. That maul was an obvious outcome.

Canada have looked much more energized this week, it's also a more talented lineup, some of the players last week were simply nowhere near International rugby quality.

Knock on by Hassler ruins Parfrey's best ever moment on a rugby pitch.

There have been some very bosh moments from some of their big ball carriers.

Canada hanging on, but they don't really feel like their threatening. Still where was this effort last week against Russia in a winnable game?

Edit: Tide has really turned in the last 7-8 minutes, Eagles have been bashing away at that line and have broken through, Missed conversions helping keep Canada in this a bit.

The size difference beginning to show. The American 12 and 13 are both built like backrow players.

Canada did this last week, didn't take a kickable penalty before half time and missed out on three points.

To come away from that with nothing is devastating. Even three would have kept this in touch. Duru with two knock ons now trying to reach over for tries.

Learn the rules Gareth. 3rd try for the Americans.

They look so much more capable in attack.

That should end this game as a contest, the Eagles are just much better athletes than this Canadian lineup. Things were still in touch, morale might collapse now.

Kingsley Jones is a terrible fuckin coach. I'm 100% sure some posters here would do a better job.

Well what is there left to say? I guess there were SOME positive moments, the effort was there at times, more so than against Russia. This is a bad Canadian side and Jones is doing ever worse than Anscombe.

So some thoughts from a fan down under (who is a closet Canada fan when not playing the US because NA needs to stick together):

Halifax has an awesome crowd and great vibe despite the score. Just shows that RC (and USAR for that matter) should put more effort into getting tests in venues outside the standards. But also finding the right venue, in particular, not in cornfields or on an island 1 hour from the nearest city. Much rather see matches right downtown in smaller cities in 5-10k venues that have such a good vibe. I think good centrally locates venues with the right amenities will always make up for smaller “market size”

Ray Barkwill’s primary skill seems to be acting like a cheeky cunt: holding players down, grabbing ankles in rucks and generally just getting under people’s skin. Line outs were poor, pace around the pitch also poor. Howard has looked reasonably ok in NOLA, do not understand why Canada doesn’t go with an actual rugby player at the position

I cannot understand why the commentators are talking up the focus on fitness at Langford. Like something is going wrong up there if that’s true because the Canadian players, especially those not overseas professionals do NOT look that fit. Either the players at Langford are wrong or the training regimen isn’t getting them match fit. Kept saying they are lifting the weights, putting in the hard work. But my fear is that there is not a real pressure to do more or the right program.

And speaking of the commentators, Rees used to annoy me a lot when I first heard him. But now he is one of my favorite commentators. As an American I used to get annoyed at his ridiculous homerism and questioning of the ref on anything bad for Canada. Now he is just a laugh track to go with the game. Joke of a commentator that’s funny to listen to as long as you know it’s a joke.

I am sure some American commentators are also homers, but I am not sure anyone can compete with him.

Anyways, chin up. Canada played ok for most of the match with a lot fewer of their star players than the US. There were also plenty of unlucky moments that could have made the score line a lot tighter.

I hope your 15s players abandon Langford soon and get into MLR. The fitness impact seems far more valuable. Go look at Paul Lasike last fall versus this summer.

Yes, very nice little stadium in Halifax. It would be good if US v Canada matches could be held at bigger venues, but hopefully that will come in time. But a nice little stadium indeed.

THIS THIS THIS. They keep talking about how many weights they lift, but then they can't play 80 (or even 60) minutes of rugby. I don't give a shit how much you can bench, if you can't throw/catch/tackle, it doesn't mean a thing.
