As well as the 1969 (23 August) match detailed earlier between Liberia and Sierra Leone which can be found on YouTube, there also appears to have been a match in 1975, and perhaps regular matches between the teams between those dates... As far as I know, none of the results are known.

Jones, Roderick Granville John
Played rugby for Sierra Leone v Liberia (1975?).

Sierra Leone played at least 5 international matches between 1963 and 1971.

Nice vid from WR about rugby in Ghana: https://twitter.com/WorldRugby/status/9 ... 1986110464
At one point in the vid the president of the Ghana Union says they have a professional 10 team league.

It may mean professional as in well run/well organised rather than paid players?

How can he lie so openly like that? Ghana have just started playing rugby in 2017. Their first competition was the RWC 7s qualifier that took place in Uganda in August. They are still far behind the pecking order, so they should just stay calm and work in the field rather than with their mouths. :lol: :lol:

I've seen on the Tipping page of the forum that there's a Sierra Leone v Guinea Conakry test match fixed for this saturday.
Anyway, it appears still uncertain according to the last news found (middle of september). Sierra Leone, hosting this return leg of the duel, needs 32 millions of leones, the local money, but they can't find any sponsor; it's less than 4,000 euros but I suppose it's a lot of money over there

http://awoko.org/2017/09/18/sierra-leon ... -friendly/

It could have been postponed to december 10, according to this page https://www.facebook.com/Sierra-Leone-R ... 793925807/

I noticed that the roonba.com has the game between Sierra Leone and Guinea moved to December 10th. I recently saw an advert for the game with this weekends date! Any sources suggesting the December one?

From Lesotho's twitter

Rugby Africa Bronze Cup
16-22 April 2018
Mauritius
Ghana
Lesotho
Rwanda
Host country yet to be determined

Probably Rugby Afrique will release soon all the pools, but we may deduce them

Gold: Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Morocco*
Silver: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Botswana, Algeria*, Zambia*
Bronze: Rwanda, Mauritius, Lesotho*, Ghana*

* = promoted

Nigeria and Cameroon relegated in regional competitions or still suspended?

Regional: Burundi, Burkina Faso, Mali, Swaziland, Benin, Niger, Togo, Malawi, Congo, Gabon...

I hope Silver Cup is NOT going to be played in the Nations Cup format. Two groups of 3 (North and South), 1 home and 1 away match + final would be perfect.

___

It looks like Mozambique is doing well on developing rugby. Maputo Rugby Club was really succesful organizing a local youth sevens series and got attention from their government: https://www.facebook.com/MaputoRugbyClub/

I suppose two pools, north (Alg, Civ, Sen) and south (Bsw, Mad, Zam).

The inevitable map...

Red=Gold Cup. Orange=Silver Cup. Yellow=Bronze Cup. Green=possible regional competitions.
Possible suspended nations: Nigeria, Cameroon, Mauritania, Gambia.
