Paul Mullen from Houston Sabercats (and recently USA capped) to play in Newcastle on a 4 month trial. The trial will end in January which is when MLR season 2 starts. Either this just happens to work out really well or it was something he wanted to do.

I believe on a 2 month trial.

I don´t remember a Premiership side like Harlequins trialing that many players, or perhaps communication has evolved that one hears and sees everything....

Paulica listed in Perpignan's squad. This is a surprise.

Vasco Baptista from CDUL (Por) to Biella RFC ( Itl) .

any color on this Italian club? Vasco played at no.8 against Heidelberg when I last saw him play and was fairly average that day.

American David Ainu’u re-signs for a 3 year deal with Toulouse. He’s turning 19 in November and may get to play Top14 rugby soon.

Some people have said the Saracens partnership has helped but I’m not really sure how. There’s gotta be something in the Washington water...

Cam Dolan has signed a short contract with Nottingham. Was playing off-season club rugby with Old Blue of NY. Should return to San Diego in January if he's not offered an extension, but he's the kind of player that will have an impact immediately so I'm unsure we'll get him back.

Dolan spent time with both Northampton and Cardiff Blues, getting some decent playing time with the Blues. He's definitely quality enough to make it at that level so Nottingham will certainly be pleased to have him stay there.

I was disappointed to see Dolan leave the Blues; and he's definitely better than Nottingham. I think he was unlucky in that he was signed as a lock and is really more of a 4/6/8 Utility Forward when what the Blues wanted was a solid second row - Dolan wasn't going to push any of the back rowers out of the squad any time soon. There's also the reality that for teams who are incentivised to play players eligible for the national side, the bar is set higher for foreigners. If you've X players in the same position of the same quality and one of them isn't Welsh-qualfied then it's pretty inevitable he'll be the one to lose out.
