Why were Pedro bettencourt and José Lima ommited from the selection ? They are two of their most influential backs with Appleton and Zé Rodrigues ..

According to https://www.rugby-verband.de/15er-rugby ... -portugal/

"Der DRV sichert zu, dass alle Spieler zur Verfügung stehen. Die bei der GFR angestellten Spieler werden für die Vorbereitung auf das Qualifikationsspiel beurlaubt."

"All players" meaning those who haven't been available over the last few months...?

In 2009 and 2010 France A was the next senior representative team for France, so he isn't captured and is eligible, provided he only played in 2010.

This pages also states him as one of the oldest players to ever appear for France U20, so he definitely wasn't able to play for them in 2011.

Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

All players in this context means that all Wild players are available. The squad is the 34-man-squad which already came together to practice for the game. The 23-matchday-squad will be selected out of this guys.

As always I'm going to reiterate the situation here people.

The winner of this match will play Samoa in a two legged affair at the end of the month and first week of July. The first leg will be in Samoa (Apia) with the return leg either in Germany or Portugal.

The winner of that two legged match will then proceed to Japan next year whilst the losing side contests the repechage. (Currently in the repechage is Canada as other entrants need to be established).

Not 100% sure about all positions so please point me if you spot any mistakes.

So also not 100%:
Vollenkemper often plays 2nd row,
Mathurin does play scrum-half´, but mostly wing
Wehrspann is more Full-back, or wing
Klewinghaus, Wing or Full-back
Menzel is a scrum-half
Paine can play scrum-half or fullback too,
No clue about Lemperle
Piosik is a scrum half

The rest should be right
