I understand it's Valence Romans Drôme Rugby from Fédérale 1. I don't know what the hell happens with unions not able to check French names before publishing.

Born in Satu Mare from what I can see, well spotted. Would assume he's grown up in Portugal? unless you see him playing before Cascais?

Two more injuries for Romania U20. Darius Vulturar (wing/backrow CSS 2 CNE Baia Mare) and Lucan (hooker, Steaua) are out.

So far only Darius Placintar (U Cluj) was called as replacement.

That's all an ordinary U20 Romania team needs, more injuries...It will be a miracle if we will pull out 2 wins in this competition. Portugal(or maybe Fiji)&Samoa looks like favs this year for me.

I wouldn't assume they are natives only because of their name. In other Hong Kong teams Chinese names often come from 'mainland China'.

One thing I've learnt is that in Hong Kong names are usually written in three parts, surname first, then both words of the name separated with a hyphen. In the mainland the given name is written all together.

How many of the guys without Chinese names were born/raised in HK? If they were born/raised there, they are natives.

Well, if they were born and raised there they are natives, which is why I spelled it with quote marks. I meant those with Chinese names.

I've already looked at the roster for the last player pool. There were 8 Hong Kong Natives...and they were not of Chinese or Cantonese descent. So if I was to overlay that upon their U20s...probably half spent a lot of time in Hong Kong, yet I have no idea because HK doesn't have full player profiles up for their U20s and the birth cities aren't here: https://www.worldrugby.org/tournament/1870/teams/3675

Why 26? Strangely I've seen 26 guys as well in the line-up of Austria against USA South tomorrow. Was there a change in numbers or just a coincidence?
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Yeah we noticed that too and we don't have an explanation. Maybe an additional frontrow on the bench? Some sort of experimental rule?

It's just 24 = 23 + 1, not 26

It seems Rareș Straja is a PROP judging by this
Code: Select all
Height 185cm -- Weight 117kg

https://www.worldrugby.org/tournament/1870/teams/2766

I've been advocating exactly for this = EMERGENCY PROP #24
to get rid of UNCONTESTED SCRUMS since RWC 2015

He would take field ONLY when
both # 1|17 or 3|18 are UNAVAILABLE via INJ | SB| RC

Even wrote to Alain ROLLAND
but I can't believe WR took a note

Anyway, it would be helpful if WR announced if there was a TRIAL --
like they did with ARMPIT LINE for high tackle

+++ Sorry, here they trial NIPPLE
https://www.worldrugby.org/news/358603
but how they can get with Ladies?

STREAMING

World Rugby is live streaming all matches from the U20 Trophy on its website and social media channels, giving fans the opportunity to watch the trial as it develops while also watching the future stars of test rugby in action.

Yeah I thought is something like this but I was looking about some announcement of this trial and I couldn't find anything albeit I didn't read the manual of the competition. With all that, such trial should have been announced to public.

Far from impressive Samoan side so far... 0-0, minute 20

HT 17-5. Luckily for Samoa they are in the easier pool and can build on during the tournament, but phew...
