Thanks. Not too bad considering it was our first and probably only game to prepare Rugby Europe tournaments.

Couple of games scheduled for the Under 20s of South Africa:-

The Junior Springboks will have a solid build-up to the World Rugby U20 Championship – in the south of France from 30 May to 17 June – with four training camps and a UK tour planned to ensure that they are well prepared for the international spectacle. The team’s preparations will kick off from Tuesday to Friday with the first of three four-day training camps in Stellenbosch – the last of which will conclude on 30 March – followed by a two-week camp in April and a UK tour in May. They will play five internationals in the lead-up to the tournament.

The first two matches will be against World Rugby U20 Championship pool opponents Georgia in Cape Town on back-to-back Fridays, 13 and 20 April respectively, while they will meet Scotland in Edinburgh on Friday, 4 May, Wales in Cardiff on Tuesday, 8 May, and England in London on Friday 11 May on their overseas tour.

I would still love to see something about the U20s championship but it seems to have been cancelled.

It was in the Rugby Europe calendar: http://www.rugbyeurope.eu/sites/default ... _17-18.pdf at the start of the season, but now there is nothing about it in the competitions section of the website, only U18s and U20 trophy, not championship. And if you click on upcoming games http://www.rugbyeurope.eu/all-rugby-eur ... xt_match=1 and scroll through, it skips past April 7-15 which is when the competition was supposed to be. I hope it is just a website fault, but it is only a month away now and should be showing up.

Thanks for your reply, Ned.

I think that this championship was never in doubt.

I translated this very recent (5th March) new from the FPR (Portuguese Union) website:

"Following the preparations for the European Under-20 Championship, which will take place in Coimbra from 7 to 15 April, the U20 National Team will hold two more regional and one national training. During the national training, on March 14, Portugal will face the US team Syracuse University. The match will be played in Field A of the Center for Rugby High Development of Jamor, in Oeiras."

Then, they list the players that were called for the training sessions.

Also the already played game between Portugal U20 and Spain U20 had no other reason than preparing both sides for this championship.

Scotland play Romania in an Under 20(-ish) game on Sunday:-

Head Coach Ben Cairns named his Scotland U19 Development team for Sunday’s match with Romania U19 at Greenock Wanderers RFC (kick-off 12 noon).Scotland U19 took a win against Scottish Students in their first game of the season last month and hope to do the same against their Romanian counterparts this weekend.

<snip>

The majority selected were involved in our first match, however we have also been bolstered by the release of some players involved with the U20 6 Nations squad and we also wanted to give some other U19 players a chance to put their hand up for our final match versus France U19 in April". The game will give players an opportunity to vie for selection for the Scotland U20 squad which will take on France next month prior to the Scotland U20 group being selected for the World Rugby U20 Championship, which will take place in France between 30 May and 17 June 2018.

So Italy did win 18:7 away in Wales. Congrats!
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Today, Brazil U20 66-00 Tildara (a club from Entre Rios, Argentina), in São José dos Campos. It wasn't a that good Argentine side, but it is good to warm-up for the South American Youth Championship.
