November/December Tier 1 tests

Postby RugInt » Fri, 02 Nov 2018, 12:31

Might as well seen we are tipping on them.

3 November
England v South Africa at Twickenham
Wales v Scotland at Cardiff
Ireland v Italy in Chicago

It's been mentioned elsewhere but the games between 6 nations teams is a bit crazy

Yeah, pretty disappointed by how many 6N tests there are, but considering the All Blacks are in Japan, and four of the biggest T2 teams are in the Repechage, there aren't as many opponents as normal.

Makes the lack of T1 tests for Romania and Georgia even more shameful, though...

Italy's shellacking was pretty bad. I understand they didn't have their full squad, but how did Ireland's team look?

Ireland always have tons of depth, but sometimes seem to lack that alst inch of quality in their first XV. Case in point the two Wales Vs Ireland warmups before the last World Cup. Ireland 2nds thrashed the Welsh 2nds in Cardiff, totally mashed them. Then When the first teams played each other in Dublin a week later Wales won pretty comfortably.

Ireland put out a 2nd team but they have a lot of depth. Not much drop off from their best players to the backups.

The gap between Ireland and Italy second teams is even greater than the one between their first XV. And it keeps growing.
If you add too many individual mistakes and probably some bad strategic indications from the staff (Canna playing a different game compared to what he is used to do), there you have not simply a defeat, but a real thrashing

I still think that Eastern European should host test matches in June, and South American teams should host test matches in November.
