Not a bad performance for Timisoara, actually they played better than against Dragons. Roughly 1000 spectators altoghether, the 400 frenchmen plus another 100 from Serbia and Hungary. Next week the Saints are coming!

I don’t get how there isn’t a single stream anywhere for these games....this is professional rugby, right? Any other weekend I could watch Zebre on an app I pay $5 a month for, what makes this week different?

Any ideas about when the postponed Timisoara-Northampton match will be played?

I don't think it will be postponed, I am pretty sure that Northampton win with BP. The question is if Timisoara's misconduct will be fined again.

The airport was also closed due to snow falling without stop for 2 days.

How is it Timisoara's misconduct to have about 4 foot of snow fall on the pitch?

Saracens canceled a game because they didn't bother to grit the footpath and got to replay it on a Monday, Saints were trying to fly out of Romania by about 5 o'clock on the day of the match!

Well, we will see what EPRC panel will decide, so far they're under investigation sadly. EPCR should be more permissive with schedule when playing in Eastern Europe, October and November are fine but December and January it would be good to play abroad to avoid such issues.

Agree totally.

Didn't realise a misconduct investigation was already underway thought it was your opinion on the circumstances. I agree they will probably blame the Romanians for not playing in a dome with undersoil heating or something like that!

Are there not systems to prevent this kind of issues? I mean: field covers, undersoil thermo channels... or just mechanical shovels. From the few photos I've seen it seems they were trying to dig out the snow just with the good old simple shovels.
I know that covering tarpaulins (I searched on google this word) and undersoil heating are expensive, but if you can prevent that a group of 40 people (the opponent team, the referees, the Ecpr officers) travelled uselessly, the expense somehow repays itself in few winters.
Do you know if the Timisoara field has some sort of protection against snow and ice?

Yep. It is outrageous to say it is Romania's fault to have a severe winter. It is EPCR's fault to keep scheduling matches during December-January.

Romanians and Russians should have 2 home matches in October and the 3rd home match could be played also in October in my opinion. The schedule should make the third Romanian and Russian home matches be played against clubs of the same league (both against PRO14 or Top 14 or Premiership clubs).

Let's say for the 3rd Challenge Cup round Timisoara hosts Clermont and Enisei hosts La Rochelle in the last weekend of October, in two isolated matches. Top 14 should schedule for that October's weekend round a Clermont-La Rochelle match that obviously would be played in December isolated in a European Cups date.

Moreover, that match should be in the 2nd December round of the European Cups, which would allow Romanians and Russian to rest from mid-December to Early-January. They would play the November tests, return for an Early December Challenge Cup away match and rest from ~'10th December to the 5th Challenge Cu round in about January 10th...

Easy and simple. Just needs coordination and willingness.

If I recall correctly, PRO14 did exactly the same last season
for South African derbies -- Cheetahs vs Kings --
they played them when other 12 teams had a rest

Somehow I agree with the penalty against Timisoara a couple of years ago for not having a proper pitch against Stade (debatable, but let's say the Frenchmen had their arguments). But in this case is a total crap. Saturday early morning I had to fly from Timisoara to Dublin, already by 10AM some planes had 6 hrs delay. Sunday evening I should have been back but, because of the snow, I spent Sunday night in Frankfurt and came back today. We have snow here, not to much in December, but this time seems like the snow for the whole winter came in 2 days.

...when you are so small, so insignificant...who cares!... Merry Christmas Timisoara!....that fine is the entire wage bill of the team for at least a month...The guys at the top should think of some kind of an insurance instrument (probably easy enough to construct) to cover these small teams who may not have the resources to handle such fines without massive impact...

Some of them haven't been paid a full wage in 2 years.

You can cover your pitch. That help a lot once you need to remove the snow.

I don’t know how experienced you are with clearing multiple feet of snow, but a storm that big the day before a game would see it cancelled most places, even where heavy snowfall happens regularly.

Anyway they say "the pitch covers were not in place and the subsoil heating was not ready in good time", so you wonder why -having heard the meteo forecast- they didn't put the covers and turn on the heating system.
One of the three members of the disciplinary commission was Romanian so it's hard to say this is a decision by the T1 powers

Well Saracens own ineptitude saw them cancel a game but they were allowed to reschedule for 5pm on a Monday. Its clearly different rules for those deemed "one of us"
