The only other semifinal that comes close is England v France in 2003, but that at least had the excuse of being affected by wet weather. There were 81 kicks in the SA v Wales match the other day. 81. It was by far worse than 2003.

Gotta be rooting for South Africa. The implications of a black rugby captain winning it all for the Springboks would be huge.

Jérôme Garcès will be the referee for the final.

All the previous referees had been from English-speaking countries.

Owens would have been a better choice.

AB's too good. Looked better than last week, but still not as good as they've looked in the past.

The worst time to play NZ is the first game after a loss haha.

You can have all the nutrition, eye coaches etc but it comes down to the battle up front. Englad forgot they had to scrummage against the Boks.

England never looked like they were going to win this game, even when they kept ticking points over, you just felt they didn't have it.

Turning point was the missed kick by Farrell.

England played their final last weekend. Defence was what won them this tournament. The final itself wasn't all that great, but they got the job done.

I agree, England played their best match last week. Am I surprised? Most definitely. A very intelligent and disciplined game by the Boks. no question.

The turning point was the 26 phases and couldn't score.

Japan have been fantastic hosts for the tournament. Hopefully this pushes the game onto bigger and better things in the nation.

Great stuff by South Africa, who just did enough in the semis and were outstanding in the final.

Bit gutted that England fucked it up so badly but hey ho. South Africa worthy winners and forced a lot of mistakes.

Would have liked a closer game as a neutral observer.

I hate seeing so many penalties at the scrum. I was a prop so I appreciate scrum dominance, but it's just not engaging or exciting as a viewer.

Interestingly, Percy Montgomery was born in Walvis bay, Namibia.
