I don't think ENC does anything for them. They've been here for 20 years and 0 progress. At this point why not move to Asia.

You just qualified to Japan due to a Tongan coach in Russia who slipped some valuable info 8-)

Russia will play in Japan thanks to victory in court.
On field in the winter we have no chance at all.
I undertood this a long time ago, i hope that our Rugby Federation can understand this too.

It would be stupid to deny the potential Russia has in any team sport, but you're a long way from Top 10 even judging only by the size of your pool of players.

I agree Russia should move to Asia. For weather reasons and I don’t see any improvement in the level of professionalism from RE. They could do an Asian Tri-Nations with Japan and HK or Korea (who I think have potential). That would guarantee two fixtures vs Japan every year which is a better quality of opponent than Russia has now.

Except that the original 'source' was neither Tongan nor a coach. Or in Russia (or Ukraine). But aside from that, yes, it is why we are in Japan...

On the Asia thing, maybe if the RUR were still in Krasnoyarsk... Maybe...
But our heads and our hearts are so much in Europe, I can't see any scenario we'd even consider let alone make the move.
(Although I do personally like the idea of the Four 'are they really Asian or not?' Nations: Russia, Georgia, HK, Japan.)

But anyhow, these points are both discussed at length elsewhere. So...

We need to bring this thread to more important matters not so far addressed like:
Did Spain actually just win a Test match with a majority of the 23 born in Spain?!?
Genuine question if AF can help, I have no idea (and genuinely don't care outside of curiosity).

Well played Lions.

Nope, we're one short from 'majority' even by counting those settled and grown here (Peters, Hogg, Munilla). Rábago played underage rugby for us, so if you want to enlarge it to 'players developed under Spanish rugby umbrella'... But let's be honest, nope.

So to be clear: 8 born in Spain, 3 more grown in Marbella and Rábago from U20 but born and bred in Dijon.

To clarify, did not use mole to mean inside job, I should have said source. (I phrased that wrong - my bad, apologies and corrected), I just wanted to be clear it was most definitely not Josh, as seemingly implied in an earlier post.

Saying "It wasn't Josh, if that's what is being implied" would have been a clearer choice of words.

Still a big step forward. In a "can you google something for me I'm too lazy to" - what are the nations of birth of the 15?

*Disclaimer: If they qualify to play for Spain for rugby, for this they're Spanish to me. Just genuinely interested in the make-up...

You really think Russia will be top 10 in 10 years if they leave Europe? Genuine question, why do you think that?

I think a better solution is to use winter facilities to train. Iceland's football association did this, with great results.

Winter, as in indoors.

Welcome to
a) the first world and countries people desire to live in
and
b) a country with open borders with their neighbour country.
and
c) a country with a colonial history

How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.
