Treviso and Zebre could finish both in Challenge Cup, while Italy asked to compete in the Qualifying Cup with the Emerging national team. I don't know how much affordable these hypotheses are

Is that just because the clubs don't really want to compete in the qualifying competition any more?

Getting rid of the automatic place per nation does open the possibility of single teams from a given nation (who would, if you kept the current arrangement, always be guaranteed qualification regardless of where they finished), and the only nation it would really impact at the moment is Italy (though it could conceivably impact Scotland in the future).

I think it's both due to a weak interest by the clubs and to the hope that an Emerging National team could be more competitive and more useful for the national movement.
Italian clubs know that they have few chances to win the Continental Shield, that the supporters are few interested in this competition (unfortunately), that in case of success in the Shield they would have almost no chances to win a single match in the Challenge (it's already hard for Treviso, let's imagine for Rovigo) and that the crowd is for some reason few interested even to the Challenge Cup. So the clubs see many cons and few pros in the european adventure. They receive circa 400k € per season to compete in the Continental Shield (so I've read but I don't know if the amount is correct) but it seems that it doesn't worth completely the effort

Italians should understand that to develop rugby you need to play not only where you are interested (6 nations, PRO12), but also where it will be interesting for other countries to play against Italian teams. Otherwise, the French and the British will say: "We are not interested in playing with the Italians, let's forgo out." There must be a double movement.

Translation of the last paragraphs!

It is worth noting that the worthy play of our team in the Challenge Cups 2015-16 and 2016-17 pushed the EPCR ("European professional club rugby") to organize the third European Cup, which in a couple of years can undergo a major change.

Now, in the depths of the EPCR, will there is a thought-out of the rotation between the "Challenge Cup" and the "Continental Shield", based on the sporting principle. If the sports principle prevails, the transitional games of the non-permanent members of the Eurocup with the winners of the first stage of Qualification will go down in the past (like the Qualification itself), and the last two teams of the Challenge Cup will change places with the two strongest teams of the Continental Shield.

At the same time, the number of participants of the "Continental Shield" will increase, which will lead to an increase in the representation of Russian teams in all Eurocups to three or four. We were afraid that the organizers would face two Krasnoyarsk teams, but, after exchanging opinions, they did not change the sporting principle to territorial one. This gives confidence that further the EPCR will leave the sporting principle in the priority.

Edinburgh will be the 6th city where the Krasnoyarsk derby will be held. Krasnoyarsk, Shushenskoe, Chita, Moscow, Simferopol, Edinburgh. And the first outside the borders of Russia.

Typical that the first rain in about a month is forecast for Edinburgh tomorrow. But conditions generally should be okay.

Look closely at #4 photos. On the one hand is a temporary tribune, partly with a roof.

If they come out in pink, then 100% lose. In green they will have chances :D

The plot of the Russian television about the relationship between the "Yenisei" and "Krasny Yar".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6luIS2hl3Ek

And on wednesday in Moscow the "Yenisei" is playing against "Slava".

And I hope our guys will resist Krasnoyarsk. My friends son can go on as a substitute.

And we all go to the stadium and support "Slava".

Continental Shield : Derby russe en apéritif à Edimbourg

Even in a sports article, Western journalists write about ... Gulag. They are idiots? If Russia papers will write about Stade France and Clermont, explain to Russian readers, for example, how "the French killed Africans in times of slavery."

Come on, they only say Krasnoyarsk is known for its metallurgic industry and surrounding gulag camps as a sidenote. No poor taste jokes. I found it quite interesting, but they lie about Krasny Yar, saying they recruit many Kiwis
