Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
It was a good spectacle. Brazil played a good game, specially first half, despite clearly Barbarians were far from 100%. Anyway for most of brazilian players probably the greatest challenge of their lives (considering the level of Barbarians players).
On the other hand, I'm a bit disappointed with only 15000 spectators while we got 35000 last year against Maori All-Blacks. Brazilian rugby grew a lot last decade but lately I'm afraid our development is at risk. Brazilian confederation is concentrating almost all investment in top level and forgetting to help club development. Our national league, junior and 7's tournaments suffered this year since the external investment has fallen, partially due confederation priorities and partially due less government assistance after the new politics that has no relations with rugby. I hope 2020 could be a better year with clubs getting stronger again and 7's returning but I'm sincerely afraid of what can happen.

Given poor attendances over the rest of the year, 15,000 can only be good news.
Barbarians are no (Maori) All Blacks. Only people with some degree of rugby culture may appreciate what they represent, they have no haka that a casual can identify as the peak moment.
Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
But to be honest the number doesn't seem quite right. I would say there were about 10k... but anyway...

Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
It might have been Rodolfo Ambrosio's last match with Brazil. CBRu's financial crisis calls for replanning and they might opt for a cheaper coach for the Tupis. We'll know probably before December.
Anyway, he did an outstading work with Brazil. We owe him a lot. One of the best works on Tier 2/3s nations in this decade. He was in the job since late 2014.
A possible solution can be Fernando Portugal, former Tupis' player that is Ambrosio's assistant coach and is being prepared by him. Would be interesting to see a Brazilian in charge.

Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
Doesn’t World Rugby pay for his salary? They do in most T2 nations.
This would never happen but he could be an interesting option for Italy

Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
They pay for coaches salary (or most of it) if they are taken from the list they propose to unions.
Re: Nov 20th - Brazil vs Barbarians
I hope Brazil will keep improving as a team, with or without Ambrosio. Nevertheless, as Victor has pointed out, it is more important the improvement as a Union because a better Club and Youth Rugby will help the further development of the Sport and will also keep feeding players for the National team for a long period. A strong Union will allways produce a good national team .
