USA Rugby
Re: USA Rugby
Roland Suiniula has been engaged by my city's club, in italian Eccellenza.
I didn't know him, may you say me something about?

Re: USA Rugby
He's one of three rugby playing brothers from NZ, with roots in American Samoa. Has done quite a bit of coaching work in the US recently. Plays 12 mostly but can also cover 10. Has a handful of USA caps.
Re: USA Rugby
So overall relatively pleased with the US against Germany. It’s a match they should win but after some early miscues, the US settled into looking solid. Not dominant but very solid.
It will be interesting to see what changes against Georgia.
In the back 5 I could see two possible outcomes. Manoa replaces Peterson (or goes to 6 with Landry at lock). Didn’t think Peterson looked too impressive. Kind of the common complaint against him. When you compare him against Civetta or Landry.
Or If we want to go with our biggest pack, see Manoa at 8 with durutalo on the bench.
But if we can’t solve the front row then I’m not sure what good it will do

Manoa for Paterson would be the only change that I would make, moving Landry to the second row.
Looks like there is an injury in the front row; Dylan Fawsitt has been called into the squad

I was also pretty pleased with how we played after the 20 minute mark. I definitely was getting mad to that point and thought it was going how I predicted Germany was going to win rather than the way I predicted we would win.
We got a bit more out of our scrum than I expected, especially with Kilifi. He ran pretty well, he was getting beat in the scrum and we had to switch Lamborn over more than a few times to help him out.
With Fawsitt coming in, my only guess is we will start Joe at Loosehead and Fawsitt will back up Malcolm.

Re: USA Rugby
Hope you are right. Excited to see Fawsitt in the squad although not sure why he wasn’t in the APC?
At this point taufetee must be the best available loosehead.
Still not a good sign as we face Georgia

Re: USA Rugby
Any ideas about squad?
I hope USA will take their best XV for this match.

Re: USA Rugby
Sounds like it’s slightly changed from last week. But probably need to wait until they announce the 23. Seems like mostly our best guys except in the front row unfortunately...

If Joe T moves to loose head as mentioned above, the front row could be much more competitive, which we need against a strong scrum like Georgia's. Personally hoping to see Samu at lock in Peterson's place and keep the same starting back row.
Re: USA Rugby
That’s my hope but nothing seems to be confirmed. Could very well be that Joe is hurt or unavailable. Which would suck

So, it's 23rd November and 3 AM in US, why would they announce it earlier than you? Did you announced it at 3 AM Georgian timezone?

Re: USA Rugby
No comment on this guy.
Guys, is Manoa available?
This pack looks best to me.
1 - Kilifi
2 - Taufete
3 - Fry
4 - Peterson
5 - Civetta
6 - Quill
7 - Durutalo
8 - Manoa

Re: USA Rugby
Roster is out. Fry is a Loosehead and he's out injured and will require hernia surgery. The pack we're putting out there is not the best. Kilifi was getting beat in the scrum the entire match. Good in the open field. https://www.usarugby.org/2017/11/mens-e ... d-georgia/
The Preview is in the GEO V. USA Thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kimMCm- ... youtu.be&a
1. Kilifi
2. Taufete'e
3. Waldren
4. Peterson
5. Civetta
6. Landry
7. Quill
8. Manoa
9. Davies
10. MacGinty
11. Matyas
12. Campbell
13. Brache
14. Te'o
15. Sculley (C)
16. Malcolm 17. Moungaloa 18. Ryan 19. Brakeley 20. Durutalo 21. Lamborn 22. Augspurger 23. Magie
Since we called up Fawsitt, why isn't he playing. The best pack we could field right now is:
1. Tuafete'e 2. Malcolm 3. Waldren 4. Landry 5. Civetta 6. Durutalo 7. Lamborn 8. Manoa.

Re: USA Rugby
So we are basically missing our 3 best props. Not a healthy situation when playing Georgia. Hopefully they can get enough decent ball to let the backs do the work. Quill over Durutalo and Lamborn is somewhat curious as well. 2 massive back rows and lineout options in Manoa and Landry, though. Should be an interesting matchup for sure.
Re: USA Rugby
Wonder if fawsitt was a replacement for tameilau? He has been playing 8 when I watched Old Blue.
Keeping the front row the same has me worried but I guess there isn’t much we can do.

As a point of order Fry is a Loosehead and Kilifi is a Tighthead. Kilifi has played some Loosehead for the Eagles and in club in the past, but not in the last two years.
