Thanks. Metallurg only got one point!? They looked more competitive to me this year when watching highlights, much better attacking.

Did you play Rugby Vova, what position were you? I was primarily a No.12 & No.6, but also played 1, 3, 4 & 7 at school.

I nearly doesn't know anything about Russian club rugby. But I'm an admirer of the strength of teams like Enisey STM or Krasny Yar. I'm surprised that there are some more teams in the Professional Rugby League of Russia who loose against these teams from Krasnoyarsk with less difference than the only professional German Rugby team (Heidelberger RK) did, when they lost at home against Krasny Yar in 2016. I think you need lots of professional players in nearly every Rugby team of the Professional Rugby League of Russia to play on that level.

I'm interested in knowing where the Russian clubs from the Professional Rugby League of Russia got the money from, so that they are allowed to pay professional players and huge travelling expenses, although they don't have that much spectators at their playgrounds, who could bring that much money.

How many people watch their matches on TV?

Kind regards
Boudewijn Vertonghen

I'm not sure, but now only 8 clubs are professional. But four of them are financed only minimally and survive each year, sometimes they can not afford a distant exit (Slava Moscow, Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Imperia Penza and Bulava Taganrog). Also there are TOP-3 Enisei, Krasny Yar and VVA-Saracens. They added a new club Kuban Krasnodar, so now we have the TOP-4. Kuban is the youngest professional club, it was created in 1995 by rugby players from Novokuznetsk, who moved to the South of Russia. They specialized for a long time in rugby seven. Only in the last few years have started to play in the classic rugby.
Clubs are funded by sponsors and local government budgets in different proportions. The number of fans does not affect the financial status of clubs. In Russia, sport is traditionally not commerce. Perhaps only a few football and hockey clubs have a profit. In the USSR, the whole sport was financed by the state, so ordinary people do not want buy expensive tickets and pay for television broadcasts, another mentality. We pay taxes, and the state should finance sports.

STMKY all very well written.
I would like to add that the state sponsors the Olympic sports more willingly.

An hour later the begining of the first final match.
In the match for the 5th place "Slava" lost "Metallurg" 7-22.
