In coaching news, Sasha Voytov joins fifteens set-up. His English will likely be invaluable and hopefully take some load off of Vas' shoulders.
Oh, and Waisale Serevi a few rubber stamps away from becoming Sevens coach.
Damn, Igor means business...

Dragons (v Russia Rugby):
Carwyn Penny, Dafydd Howells, Tom Hoppe, Jack Dixon (c), Deon Smith, Josh Lewis, Rhodri Davies; Ryan Bevington, Rhys Lawrence, Aaron Jarvis, Joe Davies, Rynard Landman, Huw Taylor, Ben Fry, James Benjamin

Replacements: Ellis Shipp, Gerard Ellis, Chris Coleman, James Thomas, Lennon Greggains, Dan Babos, Evan Lloyd, Llew Smith

And to compare with the last line-up from a Pro 14 match:

Dragons: Jordan Williams (Dixon 75), Dafydd Howells (Warren 40), Hallam Amos, Jarryd Sage, Will Talbot-Davies, Jason Tovey, Rhodri Williams (Knoyle 56); Brok Harris (Jarvis 66), Richard Hibbard (Lawrence 71), Lloyd Fairbrother, Joe Davies (Thomas 40), Lewis Evans, Harrison Keddie (Taylor 66), Nic Cudd, Taine Basham

Replacements: Rhys Lawrence, Aaron Jarvis, Dan Suter, James Thomas, Huw Taylor, Tavis Knoyle, Jack Dixon, Adam Warren

So, clearly not the strongest side Dragon could put out there, but Bevington and Jarvis are experienced props and Rhys Lawrence is the usual off the bench hooker so that be a good test.

Zhivatov at 8 is going to be interesting. Big fan. Not a position we're short in, but guy is an athlete.
Khodin, Sychev... That's not a slow back row. If Lyn is going down this route, it really plays to our more traditional strengths rather than the STM-patented "Enisei-135kg-Smash" route. He has the rugby brains to put the plan out there. I like it. A lot.

No surprise he's already looking further through the talent base than certain other coaches ever did.
Coincidentally, must be most VVA representation since 2011...

Everyone in that Russian pack but Pronenko is about 100kg. They would get smashed in a test.

Cycling back from work today in the valley next door to Bedwas. It's been pretty gloomy weather wise - not quite raining but the field won't be dry.

Ended 38 - 24 to the Dragons. A home try and conversion in the final move made the score less close that it deserved maybe.

Local press suggesting Russia were by far the more skilful team and the Dragons just beat them into submission.

Yeah, didn't watch too concentrated but through 2 or 3 silly kicks they conceded as many tries.
