It can not be said that this is like a football derby by popularity. Although a relatively large percentage of people in Krasnoyarsk know about rugby, but there are many people who know nothing about it. I will give an example. This year Krasny Yar opposite stadium on the hill placed the big letters "КРАСНЫЙ ЯР" (KRASNY YAR). In Krasnoyarsk, there is a network of supermarkets Krasny Yar, many people saw these big letters, wrote in social networks that it is a supermarkets advertising ... The city has 1 million inhabitants. Not everyone knows about rugby. In recent years, unfortunately, the popularity of football, hockey, basketball, volleyball in Krasnoyarsk is growing. They have a new infrastructure, better PR than rugby. Although the Enisei and Krasny Yar are the most titled clubs in the city.
As for the Challenge Cup. These are international matches. In Russia, they are traditionally quoted higher than their domestic championship. Just in the announcement of the match indicate the notation of "Eurocups" and in any sport it is a sign of quality. This means that many of those who do not usually go to the Russian championship will come to the stadium.

Russia say they are expecting a "five figure crowd" vs Spain next week in Krasnodar. As others have noted, should be a big crowd when Georgia visit.

How does rugby compare in popularity to Bandy in Krasnoyarsk?

Bandy is the most popular sport in Krasnoyarsk. Historically, this has happened since the beginning of the 1930s. Enisei (bandy) is one of the most titled clubs in the world. Rugby originated in Krasnoyarsk only in 1969, it became popular somewhere in 20 years in the 90's, when Krasny Yar and then Enisei-STM began to win different titles and appeared derby.

Good to know. I am quite a Bandy fan in fact, been following the World Championships from Khabarovsk this last week. USA just finished 5th!

There is no agiotag at the moment ...

I do not know where Artemiev is going to find 10.000 spectators.

Congratulate! Russia 5-4 Sweden. We are 25 time the world champions. Lomanov-junior from Enisei 10-time world champion! Almaz Mirgazov hat-trick in the final, a magnificent winning goal in the air!

They do not correctly advertise the game. I read the fan forum Greenmile of FC Kuban. There are such epic phrases in the direction of rugby .... the general sense, rugby players will kill the grass. Krasnodar is historically a football city. We need to advertise not rugby, but advertising the names of the teams "Russia v Spain and Russia v Belgium. The Kuban Stadium." Then everyone would think that this is football, there would be a lot more spectators.

We have no choice! Russia plays only in Sochi or Krasnodar in February!
If this continues, then soon we will play in Georgia!

This is Moscow today!
