I see. That complicates it! Does the combined side play regularly or was that a special occasion?

Druzhina only plays in sevens and beach rugby.
They teamed up for one match against Metallurg.

Yes - it was arranged just for Russian Rugby Cup

Well, I think its only Sibir' club, without Druzhina players
Edit - Druzhina is playing in Russian rugby-7 championship today

May be it was Pervukhin's desire, as STM's site called Vlad - "The Lucky Ref"

P.S. - by the way they repeat there the wrong penalty count in favor of Belgium

Full domestic based squad.
Great to see Ostroushko back with the squad (first time since 2014).
A player from russian second division called up (Maxim Bertsov from Zelenograd)

What about Dagestani support to Russian sides? I know there are very low numbers of ethnic Russians there and a strong independentist movement.

Can we really expect a large support from them?

When terrorists from Chechnya attacked Dagestan in the 90s. At first, the simple Dagestani men defended Russia, and only then the Russian army joined them. Do not believe Western media. When it suits them, they even call Al-Qaida insurgents.

How they are gonna win vs Namibia by this squad? Neither russian frenchies nor even Ostrikov.

You destroyed Namibia at 2017 Nations Cup and there are issues between their union and players, so it should be more than enough.

If the staff know abroad guys clearly improve what they have at home, there is no point about bringing them so early and upsetting their clubs.

Yep, this is the right squad.

No point wasting Ostrikov appearances, Rudoi and a lot of the Enisei players need a rest, we get to see if the Sevens guys can gel (they all play club fifteens, so no reason why not), and youth gets its chance while still retaining a leadership core. Nice balance.

From what I've seen it looks like the Russians are building depth this November by playing younger players and the sevens guys. I think it is a good move, especially if you want to have a strong team for 2023. In all honesty, I suspect you guys are gonna get a win against us.
