Quesos Entrepinares is the long-standing sponsor of VRAC, which stands for Valladolid Rugby Asociación Club (Rugby Union Club). But it's bizarre to find it as Valladolid since it could lead to confusion with El Salvador; normally it's called either VRAC or Quesos. And El Salvador is known as Chami.

Liga Heineken - Week 11 - Results & Standings
VRAC Quesos Entrepinares 54 - 19 La Vila
Senor Independiente 8 - 29 SilverStorm El Salvador
Sanitas Alcobendas 46 - 22 UE Santboiana
FC Barcelona 45 - 30 Complutense Cisneros
Bizkaia Gernika 19 - 17 AMPO Ordizia
Hernani 33 - 0 Getxo Artea

League reaches half-way mark and I would say it's pretty impossible this title escapes from Valladolid. Independiente looked like a decent outsider and was destroyed by El Salvador, while Alcobendas may have a shot at one Valladolid team but it would take a miracle to beat both of them in Pepe Rojo and in two weekends in a row...

Liga Heineken - Week 11 - Highlights

--

FER has released a list of players that will train together next week to prepare REC. Most of Top 14 and ProD2 guys are missing, as well as players from VRAC so they can focus on Copa Ibérica against CDUL:

--

Hats off to Spain 7s. Two tenth places in first two World Series rounds and very convincing victories against France, Argentina, Scotland or Samoa.

A small additional comment. Former Sharks coach Grant Bashford is in Santander invited by Bathco Rugby Club (División de Honor B) in an advisory role and to take part in a clinic. But that's right after the team collected this weekend its fourth defeat of the season, which leaves them third in their pool and provisionally out of promotion play-off. So there are already rumours about Bashford returning in January to take the reins and coming aboard with four South African players...

That gives me a pretty bittersweet taste. This club already hired Mario Copetti as a coach last season, they've hired basically 20 players and their U18 and U16 teams are dead-last in regional competitions, with no more than 15 and 18 players each. And now they bring a high class coach who in a local radio interview (he answers in English, in case somebody is interested) admitted to have no clue about what's the path for Spain to reach RWC, who said Georgia beat a Tier 1 in last RWC or that put Japan, Georgia and Uruguay all in the same bag. Yeah, he was maybe spot on about the lack of intensity in training, but isn't this throwing money directly to the bin? Is this what this club really needs?

Liga Heineken - Week 12 - Results & Standings
FC Barcelona 31 - 42 VRAC Quesos Entrepinares (VRAC starting #10 got injured and will miss Copa Ibérica)
SilverStorm El Salvador 42 - 0 La Vila (mass ProD2-style brawl)
Sanitas Alcobendas 24 - 24 AMPO Ordizia (Alcobendas gifted two key points in the dying minutes)
Senor Independiente 32 - 31 UE Santboiana (once again Independiente delivers an entertaining, close and high-scoring game)
Bizkaia Gernika 19 - 14 Getxo Artea (total mudfest)
Complutense Cisneros 42 - 25 Hernani

Shots are already fired surrounding Copa del Rey final. Valladolid local media are quite aggressive towards Spanish Rugby Union, calling them jealous of Valladolid success, while Catalan sources spread in forums rumours that not all debts have been paid from last final and thus Valladolid shouldn't be given next final... I'm already tired and we've got still three months of this story ahead of us.

Is there any discussion about participation next year to European Shield?

No. That's on clubs' side and until the league finishes I doubt anybody will say anything at all. VRAC decision for 2017-2018 became clear in the press conference right after last league final.

I'm pretty pessimistic regarding this anyway, Valladolid teams are quite comfortable focusing on their arms race and any criticism on their absence from European competitions this season is ill-received by local media and fans.

Loved these highlights (apologies if they are covered above). Underfoot conditions as bad as a game in Russia this year in a thunder storm at Mettalurg.

Gernika, Hernani and Alcobendas have the worst pitches in the competition without doubts. Alcobendas is doing works at Las Terrazas, but the other two feel pretty comfortable, knowing they can upset bigger teams in these conditions... And they do little to no progress in terms of quality of live streaming. To me, they are a burden for the professionalisation of the league, but as long as they gain their place in first division little can be done.

Conrfimed: Copetti is no longer the head coach, but his substitute will be Simon Hafoka, who already lived in Santander and coached Getxo last year in División de Honor.

And as expected they've confirmed four new players from South Africa.

It's increasingly hard to believe there is no money in Spanish rugby, maybe the truth is there is money but we spend it in an absurd way.

Agustín Pichot was interviewed by Play Rugby SER today for almost an hour:
http://sdmedia.playser.cadenaser.com/20 ... 165379.mp3

Pretty disappointing if you ask me. Not because of his expected cold reaction to current FER policies, or saying that a RWC expansion is many years away but because questions more aimed at pleasing him than asking hard questions.

I dont understand why expanding the number of teams at the WORLD cup is so “far away” And Why WORLD rugby are thinking this way.Dissapointing.

For the record, his exact words were that an expansion to 24 is "light-years away". It was as a response to Rodolfo Ambrosio (Brazil) words about how important it would be from a marketing POV for these teams on the limit to reach RWC.

Yep, only a few days after turning 18. Unfortunately I don't think we will see play with a Spanish shirt too often. I hope I'm mistaken

His debut game almost ended as a tragedy after a huge crash with Vakatawa. I hope he's got a speedy recovery.

In other news that exactly don't matter today, as suspected, local Clermont press has already published he's applying for French passport.

That injury of Samuel Ezeala looks very serious.Few steps from a big tragedy.

Has this match been considered completed or they have to re-play it?
(About Ezeala, I've seen on twitter a today's message which more or less said: "fortunately, more fear than dangers")

It's considered completed. Like Portugal-Japan U20 World Rugby Trophy final, and with the added aspect that the result was pretty clear by the time they decided to stop.
