Does anyone know if Georgia has a serious 7s program? I saw the results from the Clermont 7s, did not looked too good. It is a shame, I think we could have 12-20 good players who could compete with at least the REC teams and maybe Ireland, Wales and Italy.

It will take around 4-5 years to develop adequately skilled athletes whose main focus would be 7s and nothing else.

At the moment we DO NOT posses such lads

AIA Kutaisi and Montpelier are both sponsored by Mr. Altrad and his Altrad Group. AIA and Montpelier signed partnership documents, Coaching stuff of AIA are taking seminars in Montpelier and French side are going to train their Under age Players in Georgia.

Montpelier espoirs are going to arrive on AIA training base and held collective training sessions. AIA lost their chanse to advance in Challenge cup in last 2 matches by losing both and lost their 1st place finishing 4th.

so it would be qualification for 2018/19 challenge cup....
The two finalists from the Continental Shield which features representatives from emerging countries and the Italian Eccellenza.

Milton Haig said today that we will take T1 scalp soon. And this will happen at last. Hope it will be Wales in 2019 :) or better Australia (LOL)
At least we know that Italy is safe for the next decade. They will not play vs Georgia thats for sure.

Anyways good to see Tcheishvili to move in France. Lomidze will play in London Irish.

I think tier1 scalp is coming soon, but 2019 is early in my opinion. Real chance will come in 2020 and 2021 when tier1 nations come to Tbilisi.

Congrats to Lelo 7s beating Russia. Big achievement. Russia is really strong at 7s in the moment.

Does anyone know how they decide wich teams play against each other? It is a bit illogical for us to play Canada and USA. Since Fiji is clearly and and Japan arguably stronger than us in the moment we could have had 3 interesting and tough matches.

And now that we have Fiji in our Pool not only means we have an extremely tough opponent but also that we can't have little trainings-camps with them :) I liked the fact both teams came together and trained with each other to prepare for tough matches. Maybe we could do it with Japan again before the RWC.

Nice idea, Fiji is, at least stronger than Italy and weaker than scotland. Nice team to train Lelos.
2019 match will be good to watch it live on stadium.

We will see, what chances do we have on RWC, after fiji match(2018 november)

It will be a huge match for Georgia. Fiji favorites at this point but let's see. We did manage to beat them last year in Suva but the their team at the RWC will be much tougher than their team last year, but then again our team will also be better...

I watched old Georgia matches the other day from the 90s, 2007, 2008 and the match against SA in 2003. It is unbelievable how far Georgian Rugby has come winning 2 matches at the last RWC and having an unbeaten Pacific Tour. Watching these old games puts some things into perspective. And now we are talking about beating Fiji or Japan and taking a T1 scalp. By the way I love the little french documentation about the 2008 mariupol game and the lelos. I recomend watching it if someone hasn't yet. It's on youtube. :)

Khmaladze was really good for Georgia 7`s team this past weekend. He transferred to RC Batumi from Lelo Saracens.
