2016-2017 Domestic team of the season :

1- Zurab Eristavi (Batumi)
2- Beka Mamrikishvili (Jiki Gori/Batumi)
3- Tariel Donadze (Jiki Gori/Batumi)
4- Gela Shalamberidze (Aia Kutaisi)
5- Sandro Koiava (Lelo Saracens/Batumi)
6- Guram Shengelia (Jiki Gori)
7- Giga Tkhilaishvili (Batumi) - 41 caps
8- Nika Sukhashvili (Jiki Gori)
9- Zurab Tutberidze (Batumi)
10- Lasha Khmaladze (Lelo Saracens/Batumi) - 58 caps
11- Giorgi Abramidze (Aia Kutaisi)
12- Beka Urjukashvili (Armia Tbilisi/Batumi) - 7 caps
13- Zurab Dzneladze (Aia Kutaisi)
14- Mirian Modebadze (Aia Kutiaisi) - 3 caps
15- Soso Matiashvili (Academia Tbilisi) - 6 caps

Soso Matiashvili named player of the season
I think that Koshadze and Kveseladze did not play Didi10 last season.
I would like see these local players + guys like Begadze, Shubitidze, Chkoidze, Kveseladze, Koshadze, Spanderashvili, Machaladze etc playing Vodacom Cup or another competition of this type (former B&I Cup or Anglo-Welsh Cup for example)
Sandro Koiava make the XV of the season every year. May be an option considering the lack of locks... Same for Abramidze at wing?

Milton Haig talks coaching and the Rugby World Cup
About 60 per cent of the national team's players are contracted to French clubs and a couple in the UK premiership. A breakthrough this year will see two of his "boys" playing with Super rugby teams in New Zealand. It's something he's been striving for since he arrived in Georgia.

Author didn't mean NZ franchises...

Furthermore, although Badri also agreed his loan terms, ongoing injury may jeopardize the move

With the 3 professional scrumhalves out of injury (Pienaar, Paillauge and Sanga), Gela Aprasidze have good chances to make his professional debuts for Montpellier this week in Champions Cup.

Really ? I mean he's good, but is he Montpellier starter good ? unlike Lobzhanidze who astonishingly started playing top quality from day 1 Aprasidze does have some flaws to his game that he'll need to address. I think he still needs to grow a bit.

that being said having a debut at this point would be amazing experience.

fulback, i dont think Lobzhanidze is far better than Aprasidze. especially today.

Aprasidze has some real talent and kicking abilities.

May be but Aprasidze has yet to prove himself at top level. Lobzhanidze has accrued ton of experience already, he's a safe bet.

Happy that Kutaisi will host REC game for the first time since 2005. It is long overdue.

It would be interesting to see Gela make his debut for the big club.

Agree. Lobzhanidze is the better scrumhalf if he is fit. He seemed a bit different in the last games, not as vocal, fresh and cunning as he was for the last years... Gela is a wonderful talent but I think he still needs a lot of time. His passing is sloppy and inaccurate and he is not tacticly mature, Lobzhanidze is. Don't think Montpellier will play him at the Champions Cup to be honest.

2017 break through players in my opinion:

1 - Joseph Matiashvili - no comment
2 - Mirian Modebadze (he needs some hard-core training to improve speed though)
3 - Gela Aprasidze (he has another U20 JRWC to play this year)
4 - Giorgi Kveseladze (He desperately needs experience)
5 - Merab Sharikadze - Our new captain has surprisingly improved at his age of 24-25
