Listen, I also think we've done a terrible job with our mauls in this cycle. BUT it's not just because of one coach. The players that we had before were all specialists in set piece and mauls, Datunashvili, Gorgodze, Labadze, Zedginidze, Chkaidze etc, hell Sutiashvili was weakest of that bunch in mauls but now he is the strongest in current squad, that's no coincidence.. I haven't seen anything from Cheishvili, Lomidze, Giorgadze in club or country to make me think they are nearly as good in mauls or scrums. They are good in other aspects and just as good in carries but other than that their playstyle is different from the old guard. Hence our maul won't be as good as it used to be. But It definitely has to be better than it is now and I hope Rowntree sees to it. We shouldn't be losing mauls to Japan under any circumstance.

I watched youtube footage of hooker Vano Karkadze first few hames with Aurillac espoirs. Been most impressive, the guy is a big hooker, but he is fast as well as being strong. He is going a long way providing he works hard.

It is all about expectations. Italians are good forwards and they played at home. Bonus they have an all around game much better than Georgia lets face it. Haig did a great job (probably maximum for a T2 country in a World cup) but he didn't innovate enough since 2015.You cant play ALL THE TIME ultra safe card. It is ok in 80-90% of the games but not in all games. The problem is that Haig have the players to change that at 10 and partly at 9, but he didn't. I still think that Georgia could&will won vs Italy, but in Tbilisi. And let'see who will send Scotland next year in Georgia. If they make the same mistake like in USA your first T1 win could be right under the corner.

Guys I wouldn't beat you selves up about it

Georgia did well. I just think expectations were too high. Like mine when Germany played Georgia  and that was before the money had been pulled!

The point is that in principle I agree with promotion and relegation, or more precisely the integration to the ECN.

But there are 2 major obstacles. The 6N is a money generator, and therefore a closed shop by default.

If you have promotion or relegation there is a problem of parachute money.

Sadly the pro game has done this.

I think a Keith wood has said if there were one game each each year for the top 3 6NB against the 6N teams it would be a start.

Or maybe The 6N company aught to give money to the 6NB. the problem is the 6NB does not generate the income.

And all but England and France,(Ireland probably would never but potentially speaking), can't "afford to go down for 1 year let alone 2, as it would be in keeping. So the Celtic teams would always block it

So how do you solve it?

Well the only solution I see is to find a way of making the 6NB equally or 90% as profitable as the 6N.

And in the short term that is WR issue but also the Unions in the 6NB. Because next would be to ring fence the 6NB and that would upset the ones below.

And so we go in circles!

Sorry for the questions, every week I try to redige a tv schedule: which tv will show Georgia v Samoa?
Has that tv a free stream?
The match is not on 1tv.ge/2tv.ge, I checked

@oldprussians

Lets face it: there will be no relegation+promotion to the 6N anytime soon.
There needs to be a Euro. This should be in B&I Lions years. Once the national teams, who make up the Lions, get smashed without their best players, we can talk about the next step. But that would at least 3 Euros away.
I don't care how exactly this is made up, with 8 teams or 12 teams or whatever, but having a Euro is the single necessary and only possible next step.

How this works: have the unequal schedule of 4 groups with 3 teams. Invite 4 other nations to it, who play 3 friendly matches against teams on their free day. There you even have other transcontinental internationals. After those 10 days with 3 games, you have semis and finals in another 10 days, heck you could even move those semis and finals in the November test window.
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

Don't know. Rugby is so traditional

In the amateur era where there wasn't the need for huge income, promotion relegation would have been easy.

Now the pro era has knocked things sideways. and play welfare is need with not too many games.

I still think promotion and relegation is the way but there must be a way to generate money in the 6NB as such.

If that was worked out it would be ok.

And I am not sure that it is totally impossible to monetise the 6NB.

But the lower Unions need to do more to popularise Rugby in that tier! perhaps with the help of the bigger Unions. and it is not impossible as Rugby is very much a minor sport in Italy, look at the Top12 and Top14 attendance, and yet the 6N games are well enough attended to be held at the Olympic stadium and not the Flaminio.

So perhaps the WR or RE should get their heads together on how to market it

Is it possible to watch rugby on Imedi TV from outside of Georgia? If so, it is great. I did not know that.

The game with Samoa starts at 3PM (CET).

Kinda weird to say it, but that's not a bad result for the Russians given Georgia's strength at that level.

I know personally only Georgians:

Levan Maisashvili, Assistant coach
Davit Ramishvili, Video analyst
Irakli Khundadze, Team manager
Irakli Tchqonia, Fitness trainer
Abesalom "Beso" Abramishvili, Physio
Besik Chaduneli, Team Doctor
Ms Tatia Berrashvili, Media Manager
(don't know by name), Baggage Master

Plus there are around 10 foreigners
who change -- according my observation -- too frequently

Nemsadze is starting for Ospreys.
He would have been an important addition in the georgian squad for the game against Tonga...

Haig obvioulsy wasn't going to change his lineup for the final day so they probably just let him return to club.. plus ospreys need locks as much as we do right now.

Georgia will have very strong team for RWC, Hope Gorgodze to be in excellent conditions we really need player of this caliber.

This pack looks dangerous to anyone in the group C

1 - Mikheil Nariashvili Montpellier
2 - Jaba Bregvadze Sunwolves
3 - Levan Chilachava Montpellier
4 - Konstantin Mikautadze Montpellier
5 - Mamuka Gorgodze Toulon
6 - Shalva Sutiashvili Angouleme
7 - Viktor Kolelishvili Clermont
8 - Beka Gorgadze Bordeaux

16 - Shalva Mamukashvili Enisey STM
17 - Karlen Asieshvili Brive
18 - Davit Kubriashvili Grenoble
19 - Giorgi Nemsadze Ospreys
20 - Otar Giorgadze Brive

Where is Zhvania in your list? Where is Peikrishvili?
