RC Lokomotive Tbilisi 47 - 10 Fiame Oro

Good match by Georgian side. 1st parts of both halfs Lokomotive dominated the game.
Too bad they lost 1st match against Calvisano.

I think Fiame oro will loose against Calvisano and Lokomotive will miss the final. They have to blame themselves for this circumstance.

Hope Batumi will win this shield next time

According to after-match dinner gossip,
Fiamme Oro woes to fight Calvisano to the death

In meantime, both Loko and Georgia RU are to approach EPCR
asking to change of officials already appointed for that decider

EPCR allocated all-Italian trio and there is a doubt that
they could act to foster national cause, ie help Calvisano

Yeap, after trashing in Tbilisi they must restore their reputation. PS... whatever happens i still think Lokomotive is only one to blame for current events. They are not controlling the path to Finals. Otherwise hope Fiame Oro will give hell of a fight to Calvisano. And Final will be Lokomotive vs Petrarca/Rovigo

Fiamme Oro is already weak and must play for the second weekend in a row after a long trip against a relaxed Calvisano. I wouldn't hold my breath for this one.

Anyway, a decent performance for Loko given the circumstances.

Fiamme Oro travelled to Tbilissi with scratch line-up resting some big guns --
after the game local score-keeper waited for 20 minutes
for them to emerge and the manager sign a game-sheet

They were too gloomy and frustrated, and were already soul-searching

Rovigo will win other pool - they travel to Belgian Baabas

Will rugby have access to the new Batumi stadium? Looks like an ideal place for Lelos matches that wouldn’t fill one of the big Tbilisi grounds.

Incredible defensive stats for Mikheil Gachechiladze during EPCR Challenge Cup
The georgian flanker made 128 tackles ! during 6 EPCR Challenge Cup rounds.
That's 52 more than the second best tackler!
More than 21 tackles per game on average is another impressive statistic
Gachechiladze's tackle succes rating : 93% (Enisei avg : 63% only)

Mikheil Gachechiladze is also the leading carrier in the first six rounds (80) from all Challenge Cup teams, also beaten 16 defenders and scored 2 tries.

Gachechiladze is obviously impressed. It is strange indeed why Haig does not invite him into the Squad

Squad is announced. Doesn't look that strong at all... Mikautadze not in. Some players from USA... like Germany has better players in the second row now! Giorgadze out as well. No Nariashvili. In the backs we have nominated Aptsiauri (!) and Malaguradze. No need to add anything. If these are the players to build on to go to the RWC, we will surely be in the last place, Fiji will just overrun us. No f***ing idea how anyone can take Aptsiauri and Malaguradze instead of the really strong playing young U20 backs.

Do you realise who are you playing in the first two rounds? A Romanian side whose coaches were announced last week and a Spanish team that always sends local based guys to Tbilisi. You shouldn't be that worried.

I dont think this squad is weak, pretty strong team with a LOT of 1 choice players missing.

Average Age of 29 players =24 years
Forwards = 24.4
Backs = 23.5
17 Forwards - ten of them have less than 10 caps, 5 of them 0 cap.

Missing: Mikheil Nariashvili, Karlen Asieshvili, Zurab Zhvania, Jaba Bregvadze, Davit Kubriashvili, Anton Peikrishvili, Konstantine Mikautadze, Otar Giorgadze, Lasha Lomidze, Mikheil Gachechiladze, Shalva Sutiashvili, Lasha Khmaladze, Tamaz Mchedlidze, Davit Kacharava, Alexander Todua, Merab Kvirikashvili = 16 players overall...

I think this REC will be Abzhandadze's moment prior to RWC... He will open up his magic talent box and fly around the field. And then he has U20 JRWC and RWC 2019 to go.

Optimal Georgia with this squad looks like this:

1 - Guram Gogichashvili
2 - Shalva Mamukashvili
3 - Levan Chilachava
4 - Giorgi Nemsadze
5 - Nodar Tcheishvili
6 - Giorgi Tkhilaishvili
7 - Giorgi Tsutskiridze
8 - Beka Gorgadze
9 - Vasil Lobzhanidze
10 - Tedo Abzhandadze!
11 - Mirian Modebadze
12 - Merab Sharikadze
13 - Giorgi Kveseladze
14 - Zurab Dzneladze
15 - Soso Matiashvili

Just for fun, a 23-match squad that only involves players who wore Georgia's jersey last year. None of these players are includes in the first REC squad

1-Nariashvili 2-Bregvadze 3-Kubriashvili
4-Sutiashvili 5-Mikautadze
6-Kolelishvili 8-Giorgadze 7-Lomidze
9-Khutsishvili 10-Khmaladze
12-Mchedlidze 13-Kacharava
11-Todua 15-Kvirikashvili 14-Sichinava

16-Alkhazashvili 17-Asieshvili 18-Tabidze
19-Bitsadze 20-Gachechiladze
21-Jinchvelashvili 22-Tsiklauri 23-Pruidze

I'm pretty sure we're giving fringe players and youngsters more time before the world cup boot camp, no need to panic.

I think Haig is looking for final few players for world cup squad.
A 3rd hooker is up for grabs,if they take 3 that is.

Lock forward is position that needs backup to Nemsadze and Mikautadze.

Sichinava who was not named in recent squad is in a battle with Aptsiauri and Modebadze for back 3 spot.

I think only someone with a brain disease would think about taking Aptsiauri to the RWC. Modebadze is an absolute no-brainer, he is a good player and covers wing and fullback.

Tedo signed a three year deal with Brive.
I remember us talking about buying a team in ProD2 and get young Georgians to play there, It seems Brive is doing that for us :D
All the best of luck to Tedo I'm sure he has what it takes to be successful in France, the combination with Vasil at Brive will be very beneficial for the Georgian NT as a whole.

Does Georgia have any tests in June? You still have plenty of Rugby before making a decision.

no. warm up match against Russia and 2 matches vs Scotland...

Abzhandadze was kicked out of Irish collage team. :D He defeated Ireland and got Contract with Brive.

My favorite Teams in France:
top 14: Montpellier, Bordeaux and Clermont
Pro2d: Brive and Aurillac
