Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Guyana topped Barbados 34-26 behind Richard Staglon’s hat-trick on Saturday in Barbados to start their campaign in the RAN’s 15’s rugby tournament. While Staglon had three tries, Vallon Adams also contributed two and Ahmad Isaacs one in the win. Rickford Cummings also had two conversions to help the Guyanese topple their Bajan counterparts.
The Guyanese will now turn their attention to Trinidad on June 10 when they face the twin-island Republic in a home fixture at the National Park rugby field.

The new RAN site is really a pity. No information at all !

Always dangerous to assume that people know how to provide updates on Twitter (i.e. if you are going to post updates from a match, at least provide the final result).
Final score was USA South 39-5 Cayman Islands

Big turnaround from last year. 28-21 to Caymans in Parklands. A friendly as last year RAN was WCQ. So perhaps the USA South side was not their strongest.

I thought that RAN logo was representing a wave or a torpedo (and an oval ball) but now, looking at the image on the left, I suspect that it represents both a whale and the mexican gulf (and an oval ball), with Florida as the head of the whale and those little blue points on the right meaning Bahamas and the whale's blowhole's sprinkle

Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Interesting to see that Belize, the only "british" among the seven centralamerican countries (Mexico not included), tries to join RAN, while Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua & Panama are Sudamerica Rugby members.
Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Yep. We have predicted it before. But if the Americas Challenge is a success, we'll an integrated Americas that will just have SR and RAN split because if the WR votes.

Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Posted this in the South America thread until I realized it might have more relevance here, given the fact that only a handful of countries are actually from South America.
Just came back from a two week trip to Barranquilla with my gf (she's from there). Great city, great country. I will be going back as much as possible there.
Unfortunately didn't get to see any rugby players because of the holidays but I'll be back in July/August for the Caribbean/Central American games in the city and rugby will be part of it. Pretty stoked - anyone else going?
Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
I've searched for some news about RAN Championship 2018 but still no infos despite the tournament should begin in three months and a half. Almost all the national federations' website disappeared and the RAN one is not the most updated in the world

Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Just a map of the Caribbean Sea, to remember the myriad of islands and of possible RAN competing nations.
It would be easier for the followers if they federated in one only nation called The Antilles !

About Cuba
"En 1993 se celebró el primer encuentro internacional de una selección de Cuba, contra Isla Caimán"
https://www.havanatimes.org/sp/?p=126820
I wonder if it was a sort of test match or not. No traces of it in the historical rugby websites
We offer them at least three different possible names, to federate themselves and make us less confused
- The Antilles
- West Indies
- United Islands of America

RAN published the continental championship 2018 fixtures. Just nine nations involved, while in the past editions they were 14 (I think to remember)

Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
From the list of fixtures, the following are missing in this years tournament;
Saint Vincent & Grenadines
Bahamas
Saint Lucia
Martinique (they have competed in the past)
Guyana (competing in Americas Challenge)
Mexico (competing in Americas Challenge)
British Virgin Islands
Turks & Caicos Islands
By the way they have removed North Zone and South Zone. The Groups are as follows,
2018 Championship
Bermuda
Cayman Islands
Trinidad & Tobago
USA South
2018 Cup
Barbados
Jamaica
2018 Trophy
Curacao
Dominican Republic
Guadeloupe
I am sure I read somewhere that the top 2 teams will qualify for the 2019 Americas Challenge. However with Mexico and Guyana not competing I am now not sure.

Re: North American & Caribbean Rugby (NACRA)
Mexico and Guyana will play the new Americas Challenge. But how will be the qualification for the 2019 Americas Challenge? Or maybe it will start like the ARC, with always the same teams?
