So, was that a RAN Championship semifinal?

Jamie Barnwell, Bermuda’s new rugby coach, has revealed that his side have set themselves the target of being crowned Caribbean champions ahead of their Rugby Americas North Championship opener tomorrow.
Bermuda welcome Jamaica to the National Stadium at 3pm, before two further matches against the winner of Guyana and Guadeloupe and a final encounter against back-to-back defending champions USA South.

So the Top pool is composed by Usa South, the winner of Bermuda v Jamaica (Bermuda) and the winner of Guyana v Guadeloupe

Well, for Americas Challenge purposes this was a semifinal as the match Bermuda vs winner of Guyana/Guadelupe will decide the best RAN Championship Caribbean. USA South matches doesnt really matter.

USA South isn't competing this year - they are only playing in one of the 3 "friendly matches"

Cayman Islands v USA South (date TBD)
Saint Lucia v Saint Vincent & the Grenadines (date TBD)
Mexico v Capital Selects (27th July)

https://rugbyamericasnorth.com/new-look-2019-mens-15s/

The final will be either Bermuda v Guadeloupe or Guyana v Bermuda.

Seemingly, Martinique beat Barbados 43-19 tonight.

From the person in charge of social media communication for the Martinique Rugby Federation. God help us all if she is in charge, Updates were sporadic with no mention of time played or time left at all.

4 updates posted during the match.

https://www.facebook.com/sandra.ctrm.1

"Martinique - Barbados 15-00" (no mention of time or how much time is left)
"Accident in Barbados team. Match has been stopped and start back now." (about an hour later - again no mention of when this was, or how much time left)
"Martinique 38 - 14 Barbade" (about another hour later - presumably the full-time score).
"Fin du match 43 - 19 , victoire de la Martinique !!"

You got a final score the same day as the match. That has to be better than some of the smaller unions doesn't it?

Large highlights of Martinique v Barbados (the field is in a former cave?)

If the skin color may be a clue, the Barbados seem composed by local players without expats

from Americas Rugby News "Up&Under" weekly article

UP

Martinique
Test rugby continued this past weekend in the Caribbean. In what was their first test match in a long time Martinique were 43-19 winners over Barbados on Saturday. The result sees Martinique rising in the Americas Rankings and looking solid for this coming weekend’s RAN South Cup fixture against Curaçao.

...

UNDER

Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago
Rugby Americas North confirmed the 2019 fixtures for international competition. The announcement noted that the Bahamas and Trinidad & Tobago have both pulled out of competing in the RAN Championship this year. Unfortunately this means reduced fixtures for Bermud, and Jamaica in the north group, and Guyana and Guadeloupe in the south.

Cayman Islands, Mexico
The disappointing news from RAN was not limited to the Bahamas and Trinidad & Tobago. Instead it also includes the top two Caribbean regional teams, the Cayman Islands and Mexico. With them competing in the Americas Rugby Challenge this year they miss out on playing in the RAN Championship. A travesty for rugby in the region.

Every team should play rivale below and above. It's they only way to be sure if they are good or bad.

Martinique v Curacao 39-0, according to some facebook posts

So Martinique should have already won the Trophy south pool, but there's no promotion this year according to the RAN statement
