We caught up with former Fiji coach Ben Ryan and Wales coach Richie Pugh at the Hong Kong Sevens for their views on the possibility of a Great Britain side taking over from England, Wales and Scotland on the world series. Please read the article to see what they have to say, thanks.

Good read!
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

I despise the open talk of using the HSBC 7s for development of future 15s. I get that 7s was that pathway for a long time, and can still develop rugby players! Plenty of 15s pathways exist - regional teams, u20s, "A" side matches, professional teams... no substantial 7s development pathway exists yet. Where is the u20 7s, or tier 2 7s?

What if we treat 7s like its own high-performance, Olympic sport. Most nations have done that now, with full time 7s specialty squads and occasionally moving players in and out for 15s duty.

I really hope Wales gets relegated, then the decision to combine to Team GB is easier.

Regarding Madrid I'd say it's a training camp like the ones held with Ireland and Germany in recent months or with Italy a couple of years ago. Madrid Sevens usually takes place in June.
