There was some sort of call to tender, as Midi Olympique reported bids from Dublín, Biarritz, Monaco and Moscow, but the process wasn't publicly announced by World Rugby.

IMO the best nation in the SWS should have the preference.

I don't even know when the sevens are on, there's no promotion for any of the legs.

And Kenya defeated Ireland 29-12
But then England and Ireland qualified to the main quarterfinals and Spain and Kenya didn't...

QF are
Fiji v England
Australia v Ireland
New Zealand v France
South Africa v Usa

We should celebrate that teams win each other circularly. It shows that there is parity.

There was no crowd in Los Angeles. Was there any promotion for this thing? Las Vegas was wildly successful in comparison.

Spain reached Cup QF in Vancouver this weekend and this leaves Wales 20 points away from avoiding relegation with four tournaments to go... And it's not even a direct confrontation as Scotland, Kenya and Samoa could very well be in the mix as well.

That's it. It is time for a GB team, please. Maybe it is up to Scotland now.

Going down to two would certainly make switching to GB for Olympic years easier, as we've seen this year that the guest spots are a bit fucked up by choosing to bias them towards the qualifiers if we were England and Scotland then in Olympic years we could be GB + extra guest team. Not a perfect solution but a step on the road and more likely to happen than some pie in the sky stuff.

That's a lucky break for the Samoans then. Ireland and France will be their main rivals for a spot at Tokyo and they'll stand a better chance on neutral ground. But on form it's not looking likely for the Pacific Islanders. Some of the teams have really come on over the past year or so, including Ireland and France themselves. But the big improvers have undoubtedly been the Aussies. It's good to see them back at the top of their game too, because it was basically Australia and Fiji who dominated the Hong Kong 7s back in the day, winning 4 titles each between the mid-70s and mid-80s, and really did a lot to pioneer the abbreviated code. Campo was a product of that era. Regrettably Samoa haven't kept up with the pace, despite having acquired the services of Kiwi maestro Gordon Tietjens (who has been coming in for some flak). Kenya has been another notable casualty.
