And it should be, perhaps is the highest profile coach compared even with T2 countries. Where there is hired a coach who was coaching Springboks or s similar test team. He had a good record vs ABs and he filled the shoes of Jack White which tends to put him in a negative light.

Even if probably he is after a hiatus he's still a high profile managers and this attract interest, respect of players and generally more attention from public and likely some help from SA so I think is a great for Zimbabwe.

Eddie Jones (who now coaches England) coached Japan having previously coached Australia, so it's not completely without precedent, although I imagine Japan can offer their head coach a lot more money than Zimbabwe.

Very promising. Ewers played for England Saxons unfortunately so I believe he would have to go through the Olympic 7s loophole.

I thought too but it seems there is a confusion with Don Armand.

Now, everybody can understand what I was talking about in Spain-Romania thread... Namibia can't do anything against this.

Zim still need to make a team out of this and all to accept to be part of the squad. Simple list of names is not a squad.

So I check for Ewers. He played for the Saxons in 2016 in South Africa. But the Saxons didn't face the next senior national representative team of SA, because it was Junior South Africa.
If he didn't play for the Saxons before, he's eligible to play for Zimbabwe.

PDV has been busy this week, he has been travelling around SA talking to all Zim qualifying players to get them interested. Exciting developments which would mean a very strong Sables side being selected. WC qualification is looking good.

What's the likelihood of him convincing these overseas players to don the jersey for the qualifiers in August?

If the response to the meetings is any indication then it looks like a lot of them are on board.

Signing by RFU Championship side Jersey Reds

Hilton Mudariki, 25, was born in Harare and has played 13 internationals for Zimbabwe, featuring alongside former Jersey player Kingsley Lang, as well as representing his country at Sevens. The scrum-half is another to have played at under 19 level for Western Province before enrolling at the University of Johannesburg, where he studied Sports Psychology and played Varsity Cup rugby.

What sort of crowds do Harare League matches get. I see some picture from Old Georgians games on facebook and sometimes the crowds look quite decent.

For the big club matches you can get a few hundred, sometimes 500 or so but never more than that. In the past club matches used to get a lot more.
