I regret to say but I do not agree with the "closing year" policy...
As it is we loose all previous informations.
I remember some lost subjects: National Teams nicknames, for instance.

If we have to keep it, I sugest to close subjects by season (from 1st August to 31 st July?).
If all subjects were closed according to this year rule, we would loose track of a subject in the middle of the season...

Re Iberian Cup I said earlier today on Facebook, the competition is the oldest cross-border club competition in Europe.
The Cup was played the first time in 1965, and today it was played for the 36th time.

Check data at: http://www.historico.maodemestre.com/p/taca-iberica-seniores.html

Am I right or wrong?

Pedro Leal does not play for Valladolod. Nuno Penha e Costa does. Leal must be with the SEVENS squad.

The list AMZ posted with the amendments Mestre proposed is now back up on the website and seems to be the Portugal XV to face England Students rather than the full national Portugal side.

Updated Portugal Squad for ENC. I'd like to see some victories from Portugal soon, I think this is a young team with new management structure and sadly I'm not sure this squad gets any crucial victories. On a positive note you have to start somewhere and this is as good as anywhere.

Does Direito have many foreigners in their ranks? Looks strange that there aren't more players from the club, that played the Challenge Cup Qualifier?
How to grow rugby worldwide?
Look at the world ranking in July. Teams ranked 1-10 have to play one team from 11-20 (they don't play in a regular competition) away the next year. 11-20 play 21-30 away and so on. Yes, it really is that simple.

I don't think they have a single foreigner in their squad actually but they make up the majority of the 7s squad which does actually have some success so that may have something to do with it.

CDUL has secured a fixture against Worcester Academy / 'A' side to be played down in the south. I have to be a bit careful about what to call the opposition as I don't know its official composition as yet. Hopefully a good result might make it easier to find strong opposition next year.

Mike Tadjer signed for Montpellier. Remember Marques signed for Toulouse. Bardy still in Clermont.
What a mess ! Portugal will leave the REC when Portuguese players become stronger than ever... Thank World Rugby inaction.

Check the "World Rugby enforce his rule" Portugal team (I can't believe it) :
1. Francisco Fernandes 1985 Béziers
2. Mike Tadjer 1989 Agen
3. Anthony Alves 1989 Aurillac
4. David Penalva 1980 Narbonne
5. Gonçalo Uva
6. Aurélien Béco 1986 Colomiers
7. Julien Bardy 1985 Clermont
8. Eric Dos Santos 1993 Biarritz
9. Samuel Marques 1988 Pau
10. Yannick Ricardo 1987 Cahors (long injury)
11. Aderito Esteves 1988 Portugal Sevens
12. José Lima 1992 Carcassonne
13. Alex de Barros 1985 Rodez
14. Wilfried Rodriguez 1988 Massy
15. Pedro Bettencourt 1994 Clermont

16. Lionel Campergue 1987 Macon
17. Francisco Domingues 1993 Provence Rugby
18. Tony Martins 1986 Romans
19. Diogo Toorn 1988
20. Maxime Vaz 1996 Clermont
21. Fabio da Silva 1986 Bourgoin
22. Francisco Appleton 1990
23. Nuno Bettencourt 1994

Please tell me it didn't happen...

Instead of playing a Worcester side, CDUL will be playing a British Army side this Sunday at Browns in the South of Portugal.

well. a period of consolidation i am hoping and a real push to go straight back up before there is too much damage to the game internally.

What happened to the other Ulva brother? Vasco is it? I think he was on 93 test caps I read. May have that wrong.

edit: Checked scrum.com and he has played 101 tests as of this year. 33 years of age, first played in 2003. I'm trying to think who else in Tier 2 or below has played 100+ test caps?
