Howells declared today at Rugby Nation TV show that Romania will play only 2 games this Autumn because WR couldn't find a team to travel to Europe.

Telekom Sport (ex. Dolce Sport) will broadcast one match / round from Super Liga on facebook from now on. Tomorrow at 15:00 Romanian timezone you can watch Dinamo - CSM Bucuresti.

Is there no team within Europe they could play? Spain? Belgium? Portugal? Netherlands?

Spain would be a decent match but we play them in REC. About the rest, we can send Romania A out there, they're at Brazil level at best.. If I'd be FRR I'd give a test to Portugal from courtesy since we played them in a training match before REC at the beginning of the year.

However, we hold REC, made a close match with Japan, win vs US, Canada, surely a decent side like Oaks can receive 3 test in Autumn. Apparently not

I don't understand how they couldn't fine a team. Japan and the USA are yet to announce a game on the 11th November, unless they are playing each other.

Why couldn't the USA/Japan play Romania on the 11/12th while the other team plays the likes of Spain or Russia that is in need of much more international oppositions from outside of Europe.

Back to local competition, 6th round had the following results:

CS Dinamo Bucuresti 32 - 53 CSM Bucuresti

Dinamo made it easy for visitors, they played without a certain plan other than trying to use their pack. On the rare occasions when they wanted to go wide, players positioning was simply not appropriate hence they lacked support and targets for offloads. At the end of the match, when the margin was already big enough Dinamo managed some tries after some all out attack phases. Young prop Dumitrescu (Dinamo) got some success at his debut with his drives and by scoring a try trough a soft CSM defense.

Highlights:

CSM Stiinta Baia Mare 64 - 0 Politehnica Iasi

The hosts celebrated 40 years since the club was established and visiting team did nothing to try to spoil their party. At this score, hard to comment anything.

CS Universitatea Cluj 22 - 38 Timisoara Saracens

Cluj was a stronger opposition that its place in the standings and was close of Timisoara for the duration of the match. Romanian Sarancens don't seem to find their form and now we can say that Williams saw the entire squad and could settle to a starting XV because some of the injured players are fine now and can play.

Super Liga 7th round:

Haven't watched any game so I won't comment much.

Timisoara Saracens 52 - 20 Politehnica Iasi

It seems that Timisoara have serious trouble and can't find its form. At half time the score was 12-10 with a try in last minute of the half after there were behind against a team with 18 - 20 yo inexperienced players. The bench made the difference in the second half and Iasi kid's couldn't hold on.

CS Stiinta Baia Mare 22 - 16 Dinamo Bucuresti

Surprisingly close. Full match here:
https://www.privesc.eu/Arhiva/78223/Mec ... -2017-2018

CSM Bucuresti 12 - 15 Steaua Bucuresti

I didn't watched it but I heard from people who went to the match or watch it on tv that despite the lack of tries and the horrible weather it was a spectacular match

Howells announced the squad for match vs Samoa (expected changes for squad vs Tonga):

Props:
Constantin Pristavita (Stiinta Baia Mare), Alexandru Gordas (CSA Steaua), Andrei Ursache (Carcassonne), Ionel Badiu (Timisoara Saracens), Mihaita Lazar (Castres)
Hookers:
Andrei Radoi (Timisoara Saracens), Ovidiu Cojocaru (Baia Mare)
Locks:
Johannes Van Heerden (Stiinta Baia Mare), Marius Antonescu (Colomiers), Ionut Muresan (Timisoara Saracens)
Backrow:
Viorel Lucaci (CSA Steaua), Cristi Chirica (Stiinta Baia Mare), Vlad Nistor (Albi), Mihai Macovei (Colomiers), Stelian Burcea (CSM Bucuresti)
Scrum-Halves:
Florin Surugiu (CSA Steaua ), Tudorel Bratu (CS Dinamo), Valentin Calafeteanu (CSM Bucuresti)
Fly-halves:
Florin Vlaicu (CSA Steaua), Samoa Luke (Timisoara Saracens), Daniel Plai (Politehnica Iasi)
Centers:
Jack Umaga (Timisoara Saracens), Paula Kinikinilau (CSM Bucuresti), Sione Fakaosilea (Stiinta Baia Mare)
Wing:
Ionut Dumitru (CSA Steaua), Jack Cobden (CSM Bucuresti), Tangimana Fonovai (Timisoara Saracens), Fili Lomani (Dinamo)
Fullback:
Sabin Stratila (CSA Steaua), Marius Simionescu (Timisoara Saracens)

STAFF: Lynn Howells (Head Coach), Massimo Cuttitta (Forwards coach), Rob Moffat (Backs coach), Olivier Rieg (fitness coach)

I'm surprised F. Ionita (center/wing, Steaua) and V. Popa (center, Timisoara) aren't in the team, they were in good form in Super Liga, I rate Popa as in better form than Umaga and overall a better player at this moment.

It become official that Marius Tincu isn't in the staff anymore.

Glad to see Plai in the team, he was the best fly-half at the trial match between Romania A - President XV, better than Barron (CSM's Saffa's fly-half) or Oprea from Baia Mare.

Taking into mind that for too many years it was NOT clear
which was the correct:

:!: Cristian PETRE or :?: Petre CRISTIAN

... I assume those two actually are:

:!: Luke SAMOA and :!: Lomani FILI

Both variants are accepted in Romanian, first name first or family name first. "Cristian Petre" is used coloquially while "Petre Cristian" is for official occasions. Not a mistake to be correct or not, rather lack of consistency of the writer.

Tarus missing but playing for his club?
Gorcioaia missing but playing for his club?
V. URsache- missing but is already something normal...
Capatana- injured
Poparlan - injured?
Turashvili - injured?
Ionita- suspended?
Popa?
This is clearly not the best selection I've been expected.

Yes, I beg for consistence ... within the ONE | SAME squad-list

One year a manager wrote Cristian PETRE and
next year the very same manager Petre CRISTIAN
whereas all other persons were mentioned in consistent form

News from Moldova:

New national team coach is Constantin Vlad who was until this year to Bucovina Suceava, team that won National Senior Division (2nd tier competition). He is a very experienced coach.

About players, there are new faces in the team but Vadim and Maxim Cobâlaş refused to play again for Moldovan national team, Victor Arhip and Andrei Mahu are not allowed by their clubs to come to play and Prepelita is injured.

I have no idea, this is all I was able to gather from Moldovan press. But even worse is Krasny Yar not allowing players to come to play for national team

Sad news for Romanian rugby and especially for Oaks because last night the doctor of national team passed away due to a ruthless illness. May God rest his soul! RIP Mr. Octavian Cimpian.
