It depends how will be upheld (a decision which I find very unlikely). Only 1 or 2 pts deduction? This means Romania can topple Germany and go to PlayOff/Repechage.

It would have been interesting to have 7s players as well. The first half was close and credit to young Romanian team which never kicked at posts for the entire match and picked the playing option. In the second half, they collapsed toward the end hence the margin.

I'd say Lungu, Cucos, Stratila, Neculau had a very good match. Boldor, Rusu, Gordas, Iftimciuc not so good, disappointing. I don't want to judge too hard a very young team who played their first match now. I'm curious to see the changes for next match on Friday, some subs should be starters (Doroftei, Gradinaru, Tala especially).

I was guessing, he looked like Vlad but was not sure about it. I thought he got some serious penalties...

From where you got this? It is just Spanish fake news, nothing more. He was not for a moment under an inquiry.

Timisoara in Challenge Cup is already known. First declaration of Radu Toanca (direct of SCM Timisoara, one of the stakeholders of the club):

- we are sorry for the disqualification of HRK, they were the winners of the playoff
- we believe that this unique opportunity should not be missed, considering the situation in which Romanian rugby is in this period, and we consider that the EPCR invitation and our participation in the Challenge Cup can only be a good sign from Europe regarding regarding the value of Timisoara Saracens and implicitly of our players.
- he believes in the functionality of the public-private partnership and efforts were made to assure the funds from both sides.

Transfers so far:

Vlaicu moved to CSM Bucuresti (from Steaua)

Daniel Carpo will move to Tomitanii in his home town Constanta (from CSM) - this is still rumors, nothing official yet

Tomitanii Constanta are looking for players from ex Farul & Dobrogea region. They have plenty of options because a lot of them are playing in Romanian&French leagues.

I remember seeing that Vlad will no longer officiate international test matches in Europe. A bit unnecessary if you ask me.

Some reorganization takes place in Romanian local competitions:

- 2 teams will be added to professional Super Liga, Tomitanii Constanta and Gloria Buzau, the winner and the runner up.
- National Seniors Division (2nd) and Divizia A (3rd division) will be merged resulting a group of 12 teams which will be split in two groups

Center North:
Gura Humorului - new formed senior squad based on the local junior club.
CSM Suceava
Stiinta Petrosani
Poli Iasi
CS Manastur

Center South
RC Grivita
Sportul Studentesc
CS Navodari
RCM Galati
RC Barlad

or a system with a single division 12 teams. It is not decided yet the exact format.

I favor the first approach as it is easier to add U20 teams from center of excellence.

In South things looks easy to do but in North they will need to travel a lot. Hope they will have enough money for this format because is looking good.

Ionel Badiu moved from Timisoara Saracens to Fed 1 Valence Romans.

He played only one year in Romania, he moved from Carcassonne because he wanted to be more visible for national team coaches before RWC. Now he moved back in France albeit in a lower league...bad luck for him..

I didn't followed GPS but it looks like you are doing the same mistake as us, send 15 guys to play 7s. Not that we have specialized 7s players but at least this time the selection was spot on and also the coach passion for 7s was important...you'll hear of few guys from this team. Speaking of coaching, Danie de Villiers built a team in short time, true he knew some of the players but many are actually new faces for him, they weren't in Super Liga when he left his last job in Romania before going to US. So coaching was a thing and I know is unbelievable but a Romania U18 or U20 (I don't remember exactly) traveled last time to a tournament lead by a scrum specialized coach...

Some teams from Trophy looks really good in terms of physical qualities and I presume they're semipro . For a country such as Lithuania, focusing on Sevens seem to be the way forward and even if they were eliminated I was impressed by their squad. Latvia helped us a lot, I presume is some sort of Baltic rivalry, they played like there was no tomorrow and won vs a better Lithuanian side. Denmark and Israel also showed some decent rugby.

The appointment of the team captain Stephen Hihetah (Hull RUFC where he was leading tryscorer) was also a surprise for many but his game improved in last years and after all he considers himself more a Sevens player. He did very well and was a true leader.

https://frr.ro/2018/07/01/dupa-trei-ani ... ix-series/

Melinte is probably the try scorer of the tournament... I didn't count but he kept scoring now and in Croatia and he was imo the star of the team. Zaharia also played well, same as Tigla or Surugiu, both with some previous Sevens experience. Bucur had a good tournament in Croatia.

Who wants to watch the final, starts at 3:55:52 on video
https://www.rugbyeurope.eu/2018-men-7s- ... vs-romania

So exactly in this week-end it was announced that Romania U20 new coach is Danie de Villiers. Makes sense, no Sevens tournament until next year so he has to have something to do ;)
