Thomas Lievremont. The only good news in months for our rugby.

Big question is who will be the assistants. De Villiers announced today he won't be part of Oaks coaching team and will continue only with Sevens.

I have massive respect for Romanian rugby and hope they can get their Arc together at underage levels. Seeing their recent performances at u18 and u20 has been distressing.

I don’t know about the Lievremont hire tbh. Hope for the best, Romania needs stability right now.

Well, you must understand our situation right now. Is not pretty...At least Lievremont could help with the release of our players from France.

Yeah I hope it works out. If more young Romanian players move to France as a result that is good I suppose.

Was bad phrasing for me with ROU A

But why blasphemous? In the end Los Teros never defeated Oaks :)

In that case USA will have a short trip from San Sebastian to Lisbon instead of Bucharest ;)

Yes i get your point that you are better, but we don't want URU facing the A team as preparation for WC :D . By the way i hope Kenya are able to travel to Bucharest to face your A team, but i am skeptical though. KRU has brought out the begging bowl to the fans and asking us to donate for the warm ups. They have also approached the government but it's not looking good. That's why i was hoping to face Namibia twice, then go to france...

SuperLiga round 2
Timișoara Saracens – C.S.M.Știința Baia Mare 32-26 (21-19)
S.C.M.Gloria Buzău – C.S.Dinamo București 31-13 (17-6)
C.S.Universitatea Cluj – C.S.M.București 13-49 (6-21)
A.C.S.Tomitanii Constanța – C.S.A.Steaua București 17-48 (10-24)

Really happy for Buzau, practically an U23 squad except one player. Financially stable, well coached. A plus for the league and Romanian Rugby. If Constanta cand shore up their defence they will be hard to beat as well.

Thomas Lievremont's first interview (in french) :
http://sport24.lefigaro.fr/rugby/actual ... aro-924912

He will stay in France (Biarritz) and will made trips to Bucharest.
He will continue to comment Top14 for french TV (Canal+)
He thinks that the FRR must develop academies until U23 category
Also, Romania must develop coaching but also lifestyle, nutrition and bodybuilding
He attended some U20 and U23 training camps and will watch U20 JWRT videos.
He started to communicate with ProD2 clubs and wants good relationship between them and FRR
The next backs coach will be romanian and will stay in Romania
He started to learn Romanian

Thanks for that. It’s good that he spots their academy problem and hopefully it is priority #1. Throwing a bunch of U20 players in SuperLiga is pretty useless if they aren’t being adequately prepared.

Romania just hired a Director of Athletic performance in James De Lacey, as a strength and conditioning guy he's pretty much on the cutting edge. Previously worked as Head Strength coach for Austin Elite, but prior to that he was on the Strength Staff of the Vodafone Warriors and former head strength coach for the Lady Kiwis.

The idea that your HC should reside outside of the country is idiotic.

If FRR can't pay Lièvremont that much and he earns good money by commentating Top 14 in French TV it isn't that idiotic. Not optimal, but not idiotic either.

Acording with Romanian press, Lievremont is also a successful businessman I don't think he actually earns his living from commenting matches, probably more like a hobby for a person who likes rugby very much:

https://www.libertatea.ro/sport/poveste ... nt-2392848

As for staying full time in Romania, I don't think is a tragedy since XV season have some dead months: July, most of August, December, January.

He said he will be 6 months in Romania. I have my doubts about that.
